.
1553 Arden Place
Arden Hills, MN 55112
September 25, 1992
City of Arden Hills
1450 West Highway 96
Arden Hills, MN 55112
Dorothy Person, Clerk Administrator
Dear Ms. Person:
We are replying to you recent letter pertaining to the pro-
posed assessment of the 1992 Arden Place Storm Sewer
Improvement We reside at 1553 Arden Place, one of the two
homes which receive the drainage water from the other six
homes included in the assessment We realize how much
time, effort, and emotion have been involved on all sides.
We are objecting to the amount of the assessment. It
appears that the eight homes involved are to pay for 100%
of the proposed $32,560 project (At one time the estimate
. we heard was to be in the $17,000 to $22,000 range.)
It has been well documented that it is a city drain, and we feel
that, therefore, the city should bear some, if not most of
the expense. It is evident that this drain has not worked
properly for at least 13 years, during which time taxes have
continued to be paid on all properties
In another recent drainage project in Arden Hills (the
Keithson Pond project), the proposed cost was $120,000 and
the maximum homeowner assessment was $1,500. It appears
that the 100% assessment is out of line, and that the city has
tried to absolve itself of any financial responsibility for
this drain We must strongly protest this proposal.
Sincerely,
CUClJ~\s,"- '~'>-L~~'-~
Warren and Brenda McGuire
.
CC: dJ~~
