It was discpcced at one tiJne that we use an <br /> existing one-ton chassis, scheduled to be sold this fall, to mound the new <br /> rodder unit on. However, in reviewing the current body conditions of the <br /> existing units, it is my recammendation we not use either one of these trucks, <br /> ani instead sell both units as is. <br /> . 'lb further save money, I discussed with the Public Works crew the fact that a <br /> trailer mounted unit would be sufficient for our needs. We have already <br /> discussed building special trailer hitches that would allow us to push ani/or <br /> pull this trailer unit with one of our tractors if the need arises. <br /> '!he estimated costs for this trailer mounted unit is between $23,000 ani <br /> $24,000. '!his is below the state statute calling for any purchase over <br /> $25,000 to be completed with sealed bids only. ihe quote opening ill be <br /> scheduled for December 10, 1992. <br /> The two najor manufacturers of this type of equipment have told me this <br /> trailer mounted rodder is in stock ani probably could be available for <br /> immediate delivery. <br /> ACITON REOUIRED: <br /> If Council concurs with staff's request to purchase this equipment, approval <br /> nay be given to solicit quotes. <br /> rM/ts <br /> . <br />
