Mr. Fritsinger stated the college wants to expand because of the <br /> need for additional parking for the students. The condition of <br /> the lot is bad, and it needs great repairs. The expansion of the <br /> lot will increase the total size to 58,680 square feet. There <br /> will be no additional curbs or catch basins, The lot will <br /> increase from 100 to 184 parking spaces. The size and placement <br /> of the parking spaces meets the requirements in the Zoning <br /> Ordinance. No additional or new lighting will be added to this <br /> lot. NSP does have an easement on the east side of the parking <br /> lot adjacent to Snelling Avenue, and NSP has seen and approved <br /> the site plan. Both Rice Creek Watershed District and the City's <br /> Engineer have approved the plans. Thirty trees will be removed <br /> and the applicant has proposed to relocate 20 trees. Bethel <br /> College has found that trees larger than 4-5 caliper inches don't <br /> survive very well being transplanted. Staff recommended approval <br /> of these plans with the additional stipulation that an effort be <br /> made to save all possible trees, <br /> Ms. Piotrowski asked if the one light pole will be enough, She <br /> thought there could be others located elsewhere to the lot. <br />.
