A Jobs for Peace program has offercd to assign a graduate student to wor:k with <br /> the City in developing land use plans for the arsenal property. Tom distributed a memo summarizing <br /> his efforts. Mark committed to writing up his contacts to be distributed at the next meeting. I <br /> Tom Steele distributed copies of an Input/Output Matrix he developed which may be used to assess <br /> the costs of various property development plans. Tom will be working with Brian on this matter and I <br /> updatc us of thcir efforts at our ncxt meeting. <br /> Committee members were asked to gather infonnation on computer planning models that fast I <br /> developing cities may use to assist in development planning. Cristine will contact Apple Valley, <br /> Woodbury, and the League of Minnesota Cities to see if they have any material or computer models <br /> that they can share. Chuck Mertensotto will contact Hamline University to see if they have a student I <br /> worker available to assist the City to draft development plans for thc ~ property. <br /> Tom Steele provided an update on the Economic Development Committee. The &on. committee I <br /> plans to organize a breakfast meeting to show good will and establish good relations with the City's <br /> business community. <br /> 5. investment Policy Update: Terry is going to prepare an annua1 treasurers report with sugges. I <br /> on managing portfolios in hopes of simplifYing invesunent matters. Clwck S. suggested that the City <br /> adopt a more simple, low risk approach to investment decisions and stay away from mutual funds. I <br /> 6. Council Liaison Report: Paul Malone provided the following report: (I) Dan got a new job; (2) <br /> Old Snelling and County Rd F will be repaved; (3) Ramada Inn is changing hands. It will be a I <br /> Holiday Inn_ New owners plan to moderoize the building; (4) the Perry Park debate is still ongoing. <br /> The City Council wishes to look at alternatives; (5) Re-doing pay equity is going to cost the city <br /> S50,000 this year.
