I

considers. The community should be reminded of the arsenal's .1
background, and how it came to be such a unique property. Mr.
Fritsinger said that an interpretive site was a part of each re-use I
plan being presented.

Ms. Levin estimated that there are 50,000 jobs in the Southwest I
suburbs, more than the total population, and that these jobs paid
for the infrastructure of these communities.

Julie Trude told the committee about an industrial park in Mounds I
View that was low-impact and an enhancement to the tax base of the
city as an example of the type of possible future industrial
development for TCAAP. I

Matt Fulton reminded the committee that it needs to consider where
the CEO's of these ne~~ companies are going to live, because I
executive housing needs to be available near industrial areas to
attract business.

The fourth re-use map that was shown to the committee was the "Open. I
Space" re-use plan. This map included almost 75% of the available
land remaining as open space.

Marsha Soucheray asked if there was a possibility to create I
clustered housing in this type of re-use plan, to maximize the open
spaces. Ms. Levin told the committee that the task force was still . I
researching different possibilities for housing stock.

LeEtta Flicker said that she thought it was important to include a
cross-section of housing for different income levels. Ms. Levin I
indicated that the high-density housing is more easily adapted for
lower-income housing.

Ms. Levin told the committee that the contaminated sites were I
included in the open spaces of this proposal in order to ensure
that development in o_ther areas can proceed around the major clean- I
up areas.

An audience member asked the committee why there needs to be any
development on the site, since it is a unique site which cannot be I
duplicated elsewhere in the vicinity. He suggested that when the
land becomes available, the fences be taken down and the land left
as it is now. Dick Wedell said that the land is going to be I
excessed and that the land is going to be sold or transferred to
someone. It is important that the community have a say in what type
of uses occur on the land, and that a plan be prepared for the I
eventual disposal.

Molly Grove explained to the audience what the committee has been
doing and how the Arden Hills Task Force is a separate group which .
is bringing its recommendations to the committee in order to share
some of its research and findings. .

Dennis Probst told the committee that the city is planning to I

I
