<br /> I <br /> I. 4, Trail. A ten-foot wide bituminous trail would be installed the whole length of the <br /> I corridor. The trail system would include appropriate crossings at streets and a sign <br /> I system. <br /> 5, Landscaping for Boulevards and Medians, Street trees, shrubs, and grasses would be <br /> I installed to provide boulevard and median landscaping. The landscaping material would <br /> be grouped, as much as possible, to provide natural pockets of landscaping and to <br /> minimize maintenance costs. <br /> I Different levels of landscaping could be used depending upon available funds, desire for <br /> landscaping treatments, or the individual needs of the communities. <br /> I 6, Landscaping - Special Focal Areas, Special landscaping treatments would be provided <br /> at significant locations, such as at city hall locations or other important or significant <br /> I facilities. The special landscaping treatments could include special ornamental trees and/or <br /> shrubs, flowers, or other urban design treatments. These areas would need to be irrigated. <br /> I 7, Rest Stops for Trail. The rest stops would be small plazas at key points along the trail <br /> to provide opportunities for resting and for enjoying the lakes, natural features, and open <br /> II spaces. The rest stops would include bicycle storage, seating, landscaping, and <br /> interpretive signs. <br /> I 8. Corridor Gateways, The corridor gateways would be installed at the interchanges of <br /> Highway 96 with 1-35W and 1-35E and would serve as symbolic entryways to the seven- <br /> community Highway 96 corridor. The gateways could be established with landscaping <br /> I materials or they could be physical elements, such as banner poles with banners or <br /> symbolic structures or sculptures. <br /> I 9. City Entry Signs. The city entry signs would be markers or monuments at the. city limits <br /> of each community. The entry signs could be constructed either as a panel sign or as a <br /> monument and would include complementary landscaping. <br /> I 10, Special Feature Signs. The special feature signs would be used to designate special <br /> I features in the corridor, such as lakes and, possip!y, p<ttks and open spaces.
