<br /> Minutes of Regular Council Meeting, September 28. 1959 <br /> 5 <br /> . PUBLIC SAFETY: Crepeau attended a meeting called by the Ramsey County <br /> sheriff for villages interested in buying police protection from the <br /> county. The Council suggested that someone from the Sheriff's office be <br /> inv~ted to come to a council meeting to discuss the maJter with the Counoil. <br /> Crepeau also attended a Ramsey County Officials meeting. They are attempt- <br /> ing to adopt a uniform ordinance on burning and fire control throughout the <br /> county. They are recommending seven specific ohanges in the fire ordinaace. <br /> ~ Matter referred to the Fire Chief and then to the Village Attorney for <br /> recommendation. <br /> The New Brighton Fire Department stated that they would like to be paid <br /> $75.00 for each oall they answer in the Village of Arden Hills. It was <br /> recommended that the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office dispatcher be enoouraged <br /> to send the proper fire department to the proper village. <br /> . <br /> Ootober 12 there will be a hearing on the Village Budget for 1960. <br /> Mayor's Report: A letter received from the Walter Butler Company intereste~ <br /> in preparing-complete plans and specifications for awarding sewer contracts <br /> was put on file with the Clerk. <br /> Ashbach reported that he and Mr. Stanslasky, New Brighton mayor, disoussed <br /> the possibility of asking the county to take over Stowe Avenue. The Council <br /> referred the matter to the mayor who is to write a letter to the County <br /> Commissioners requesting them to take over and maintain this street. Mr. <br /> . Ed Salverda was present at the Council meeting and the Counoil requested <br /> his help in the matter. <br /> PUBLIC ROADS: Mr. DeLange reported that he had received a oom,plaint from <br /> Mrs. Riohard Carlson.. 1159 Carlton Drive, concerning a drainage problem on <br /> Tiller Lane. Apparently, a house is being built on a lot by a Mr. Anderson <br /> which is the natural drainage for that area. The lot has been tiled and <br /> wright green water is coming out of the pipe most of the time. She feels <br /> that it is a health hazard to children playing in the area. Mr. DeLange <br /> suggested to her that the area could be fenoed or boarded over the top. <br /> The matter was referred to Mr. Ashbach and Rr. DeLange for further aotion. <br /> Mr. DeLange has recently inspeoted all village streets and he is recommend- <br /> ing that some of them be oiled. <br /> Mr. Kennedy moved that the proposed budget for 1960 8S presented b~ <br /> acoepted by the Council for the public hearing, Ootober l2. Motion <br /> seconded by Crepeau. Motion oarried. It was observed by the Council <br /> ~ that the mill rate will stay approz1mately the same for the coming year <br /> if the proposed budget is adopted. <br /> A letter from Banister Engineering Company concerning the Preliminary <br /> Report on Sanitary Sewer Improvement for the southwest portion of the <br /> Village, dated August 10..1959 be placed on file with the clerk. <br /> . A letter. dated September 23. from the Village insurance agent, Wm. H. Hite. <br /> was placed on file with the Clerk, recommending that the Village Hall be <br /> appraised by McGregor-Deyo Appraisal Company to determine the correct <br /> amount of insurance that should be carried on the building. cost of apprais@ <br /> not to exceed $25.00. There is a binder oovering $l5.000.00 of fire. <br /> extended coverage and vandalism insurance on the hall at the present time. <br />
