<br />Mlr.utes of Councl I Meeting - Apri I 10, 1967 - continued <br /> <br />REPORT OF TRUSTEE BJORNDAHL <br />(given by Clerk Stromquist) <br /> <br />Oak WIlt Problem <br />Clerk reported that a letter had been written to Dr. Franch at the Univer- <br />sity of Minnesota requesting his ald. Dr. French recommended that the <br />survey be made in August or September and this be done only In the developed <br />areas; the estimated cost for this would be $300.00 The Parks and <br />Recreation Committee will continue to work on the problem. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Baseball Fields <br />Mr. H. Lagerstrom, Chairman of the Parks and Recreation CommIttee, In- <br />formed the Council that the Little Lakes Little League has again requested <br />use of the ball fIeld at Valentine Park. He also Informed the Council that <br />there are not enough ball parks In the area and they have been using <br />Plpkorn's property on the northwest corner of County Road D and HIghway 8 <br />which is In New Brighton. A grass problem exists there with grass cuttIng; <br />the committee feels they would like to cut this grass, but are concerned <br />about the legal question regarding IIDb!!'ty on private property. Matter <br />referred to Clerk Lorraine Stromquist to contact Attorney Courtney for <br />an opinion. <br /> <br />REPORT OF TRUSTEE OLMEN <br /> <br />Public Works Committee <br />Trustee Olmen reported that this Committee met on March 22. They wIll <br />give further study to the matter of the Village purchasing a pIck-up <br />truck; they recommend that provIsions be made before purchase for covered <br />parking with the truck plainly marked as Village property. Mr. McFadden, <br />State HIghway Department, has requested the Council's action concerning <br />their recommendations that Hamllne Avenue, north of County Road E, be <br />re-named. The Committee recommended no change unless most of the resi- <br />dents on this street concur. <br /> <br />The CommIttee toured the streets In the Village and wll I have a report <br />on this matter at the next meeting. <br /> <br />The listing of 11ft station problems <br />be discussed at their next meeting; <br />taken care of most of the problems. <br /> <br />as submitted by Engineer Lund will' <br />it was reported that Fred Nixon has <br /> <br />REPORT OF MAYOR NETHERCUT <br /> <br />Finance Comml~tee <br />Mayor Nethercut reported on the Finance CommIttee held on March 22. He <br />Informed the Council that the Committee feels financial plans should be <br />projected for 4 or 5 years; they wil I study the sewer rate change when <br />the figures are aval lab Ie. The Committee recommended members of the <br />CommIttee be appointed to specific areas of Village government act as <br />II a I son. <br /> <br />Copies of the minutes of this meeting were sent to the Council members. <br />Trustee Hollenhorst moved, seconded by Trustee Olmen, that the Finance <br />~ommittee appoint members of the Finance Committee to act as liaison with <br />other Village Committees regarding financial matters, and consideration <br />be given on a five year financial plan; motion carried. <br /> <br />Clerk requested to Inform each committee chairman of Its I ialson from <br />the Finance Committee. <br /> <br />Clerk Lorraine Stromquist submitted the Village's copy of ~Federal Aid to <br />Local Government~ to Treasurer Worth Read. <br /> <br />County Road E and Hlqhway 51 <br /> <br />Mayor Nethercut reported that he had contacted Mr. McFadden, State Highway <br />Department, regarding the lighting of this Intershange and was informed <br />that this is planned for July action; plans wll I probably be aveilable <br />for the Vi I lage's next Council meeting. <br /> <br />Arden Hills Entrance Slqns <br />Mayor Nethercut reported that the type of entry signs for Arden Hills as <br />planned by the Arden Hills Jayc6as Is orohibited by law because of their <br />name appearing on them; therefore, the matter was referred to the Planning <br />-4- <br />
