<br />. <br />. <br /> <br />. <br />. <br /> <br />Council Minutes - May 13, 1968 - continued <br /> <br />Page two <br /> <br />attached, awarding the bid for Water Improvement No. 68-1 to <br />Northern Contracting Company, Hopkins, Minnesota, In the amount <br />of $453,380.00: seconded by Councilman Crepeau: motion carried. <br />Construction of this Improvement will commence approximately 30 <br />days from the date of award, as pipe delivery cannot be made <br />until that time. Completion date of the contract Is December 31, <br />1968. <br /> <br />Library Slte- Sewer Service <br />Attorney Courtney Informed the Council that the Clerk has re- <br />quested plans and specifications of the proposed building from <br />the Library Board for Village review. Estimated cost of the pro- <br />Ject Is $5,800.00. . <br /> <br />Engineer Lund stated there are about 400 feet that can be assessed, <br />300 feet frontage to Ramsey County for the Library and about 100 <br />feet to Bethel. Attorney Courtney suggested that the low land <br />belonging to Bethel could also be assessed with the charge delayed <br />until the land is fllied and utilized. <br /> <br />Engineer Lund informed the Council that two homes on the south <br />side could receive service and be assessed, but the assessment <br />would not be the full amount as they have already been assessed <br />for the trunk line. Clerk requested to write to the Ramsey County <br />Library Board and ask If they are willing to pick up the tab for <br />the amount over the 100 feet. Clerk also to Inform Bethel College <br />of the proposed Improvement. <br /> <br />Schlfsky ProDerty <br />Attorney Courtney reported that he has suggested two meetings with <br />Mr. Schifsky, but Mr. Schlfsky could not arrange to appear. Mr. <br />Schlfsky will attempt to set a date for a meeting. <br /> <br />Councilman Hollenhorst presented the Planning Commission recommenda- <br />tion of relocating New Brighton Road to Falrvlew Avenue. The <br />Schlfsky property would then be Increased In size and this would <br />. also ease the traffic prOblem at this multi-cornered Intersection. <br /> <br />A map showing the proposal was also submitted. Council requested <br />Engineer Lund to re-draw this proposal and submit to Clerk Lorraine <br />Stromquist who will then enclose It with a letter to Ramsey County <br />to consider the proposal. <br /> <br />Bethel ColleQe - Water Service <br />Attorney Courtney Informed the Councl.1 that Bethel College Is <br />agreeable to signing a waiver of the public hearing to permit them <br />to be Included In Water Improvement No. 67-1. <br /> <br />Council agreed that the assessment to Bethel College be $40,000.00. <br />This will appear on the assessment roll for the assessment hearing. <br /> <br />Attorney Courtney will so Inform Bethel College and also obtain <br />the waiver. Engineer Lund requested to submit the legal descrip- <br />tion of the B~thel property to be assessed. <br /> <br />Arden Hills - Rosevllle Water Contract <br />Attorney Courtney informed the Council that his suggested changes <br />have been Incorporated In the contract. The contract will be <br />finalized after an exhibit from Engineer Roger Short Is received <br />and Included In the contract. <br /> <br />Lake Johanna Outlet Matter <br />Attorney Courtney Informed the Council that On April 22, 1968, <br />the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners referred this matter to <br />Commissioners Salverda and DeCourcy. Clerk requested to write to <br />them and ask for a favorable report on this project, Including <br />the $1,400.00 feasibility report. <br /> <br />-2- <br />
