RALPH J. PERRY, 3670 New Brighton Road. Asked what the <br /> $1.00 trunk charge was for. <br /> MR. MARK SOLSTAD, representing Bethel COllege and Seminary. <br /> Most of the land of the Seminary that is included in the improvement <br /> is swamp and they have no intention of developing it in the foreseeable <br /> future. 'l!l.ere would be no benefit. Also said that under a previous <br /> water improvement they are paying approximately $30,000 of assess- <br /> ments. H!I asked that the current assessment be deferred until such <br /> a time as that area is developed. Mr. Lund from Banister Engineering <br /> indicated that the COllege was not being charged for 100~ of the <br /> acreage because some of the land is low. <br /> MR. WILLIAM SMI'!'H. attorney-at-law, St. Paul: 8IJl said the <br /> owners of the property he represents are listed in the assessment <br /> roll as Royal Investment COmpany, but that there has been a transfer <br /> of title since the time the roll was prepared. 'l!l.e property, close <br /> to the Bethel OOllege property, consists of approximately 130 acres. <br /> 'l!l.ey object to the amount of the assessment and also request the <br /> COuncil to defer the payment of the assessment on the basis that <br /> it is undeveloped, unplatted, and because there are no present <br /> plans for its development, no benefit would accrue at this time <br /> by virtue of the installation of water. <br /> MAYOR CREPEAU announced that a communication had been received <br /> from Mr. and Mrs. Arne Bevin, 3470 Siems Court, Objecting to their <br /> assessment. 'l!l.ey have a pie shaped lot with 57 feet on the front <br /> and 120 feet on the rear. '!'he average is 88 1/2 feet which is <br /> 11 1/2 feet less than the 100 feet for which they have been assessed. <br /> MAYOR CREPEAU also announced that a second communication had <br /> been received from Mr. Bradford Lemberg, 1401 Skiles Lane, in which <br /> he Objected to the type of work that has been done. <br /> MR. LAWRENCE KINPORrS, 1645 Valentine Avenue. Obj ected to the <br /> amount of his assessment. 8IJl has a single large lot with no possi- <br /> bility of putting another house on it. 81s assessment is anywhere <br /> from 50~ to double his neighbors' and his house value is not equal <br /> - 2 - <br /> , <br /> ~ <br />
