<br />. <br /> <br />Minutes of Regular Council Meeting <br /> <br />August 10, 1970 <br /> <br />REPORT OF COUNCILMAN STANLEY OLMEN - Public Works <br />(absent) <br /> <br />Ed ewater Avenue - Street 1m rovement Pro osal <br />Maintenance Supervisor verett Beecher reported that Edgewater <br />Avenue In Arden Hills '3, .is in need of an overlay from Asbury <br />Avenue to Rldgewood Road; explaining that the ditches are settling <br />and water Is ponding and residents are requesting that the situation <br />be corrected. <br /> <br />After discussion, the Council determined that the Improvement of <br />the street be delayed until 1971, at which time State Aid road and <br />bridge funds may be aval lable to Arden Hills for the purpose. <br /> <br />(Clerk Administrator Lorraine Stromquist was requested to notify <br />the residents of the Council action. Names of residents to be <br />notified are to be obtained from Mr. Beecher.> <br /> <br />REPORT OF MAYOR HENRY J. CREPEAU, JR. - General Government & Public <br />Safety <br /> <br />Outdoor Burning Ordinance - Letter to Residents <br />Copies of a suggested informational letter to the residents of Arden <br />Hills, explaining the recently passed ordinance prohibiting outdoor <br />burning in the Village, were distributed for Counci I consideration. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Ronald Herrick that the letter be sent, <br />as presented, enclosing a copy of the ordinance; motiOn was seconded <br />. by Councilman John Hollenhorst and carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Status of HUD Fund Requisitions <br />Mayor Henry Crepeau reported that Mr. Bob Hess telephoned the Village <br />Hall and advised Clerk Administrator Lorraine Stromquist that the <br />HUD funds under WS-MINN-9i, Village of Arden Hills should be received <br />by the Village within two weeks (August 20, 1970>, in the amount <br />of $228,500.00. ' <br /> <br />Public Safet Commission Pro osa~ <br />A ter review of the amended Pub ic Safety Commission proposal sub- <br />mitted to the Councli by the Public Safety Committee, the matter was <br />de.ferred until the next Counci I meeting. The Public Safety Com- <br />mittee was requested to compare the amended proposal with the <br />original proposal to determine tha'r all recommended changes are <br />included. <br /> <br />Thank You Letter - Family of Dr. John Farkas <br />Clerk Administrator Lorraine Stromquist was requested to send a <br />"Thank You" letter to the family of Dr. John Farkas, expressing the <br />Councllts appreciation of service rendered to the VII!age by Dr. <br />Farkas as Public Health Officer over the past seven years. <br /> <br />Appointment of Public Health Officer <br />It was moved by Councilman Ronald Herrick that Dr. Robert Dunn, 3412 <br />North Snelling Avenue be appointed as Public Health Officer; motion <br />was seconded by Counci'man John Hollenhorst and carried unanimously. <br /> <br />REPORT OF CLERK ADMINISTRATOR LORRAiNE STROMQUIST <br /> <br />I, <br /> <br />Electronic Accounting Machine - Tabulation of Bids _ <br />Clerk Administrator Lorraine Stromquist advised that two bIds were <br />received: Burroughs submitting the apparent low bl? at $7,300.00; <br />National Cash Register bidding $8,860.00. (Tabulation aTtached.> <br /> <br />Mrs. Stromquist advised that several discrepencies were noted In the <br />Burroughs bid, as per attached list and recommends purchase of the <br />NCR machine in the amount of $8,860.00. <br /> <br />After discussion and review of the bids, it was moved by Councilman <br />John Hollenhorst that the Council approve the purchase of the NCR <br />model 395 accounting machine as recommended by Clerk Administrator. <br />Lorraine Stromquist; seconded by Councilman E.
