Plannine: Case No. 03-09: Gode Variance Mr. HelIegers explained the applicant was requesting a 6-foot variance from the minimum side yard setback. The variance would allow construction of an attached 24' by 26' garage, four feet from the northern property line. Since the variance would also reduce the minimum total side yard setback for the property (25 feet to 19 feet), a variance of 6 feet from the minimum total side yard setback would also be required. He stated the Planning Commission recommended denial because the request did not meet the Statute definition of ''undue hardship". Councilmember Grant stated he believed the applicant had other options for the location of the proposed garage. MOTION: Councilmember Holden moved and Councilmember Larson seconded a motion to accept the Planning Commission recommendation for denial, as well as, their reasons for denial of Planning Case No. 03-09: Bruce Gode, 3538 Glen Arden Road, Variance. Mayor Aplikowski stated the applicant had other options for the location of the proposed garage. The motion carried unanimously (5-0). B. RECYCLING CONTRACT/BINS Mr. Hellegers stated this request would amend the contract to reflect the service split of pick up south of 1-694 on Tuesdays and north of 1-694 on Wednesdays. The request would also extend the contract through 2008. In addition, Mr. Hellegers requested the Council review a request to purchase recycling bins for residents in the amount of $16,500, funded by the Recycling Enterprise Fund (#603). Councilmember Rem noted the contractor would provide updated recycling information and instructions to the residents along with the new bins. She requested that this information also be posted on the City website.
