Insurance Re Volunteer Workmen Compensation and Civil Defense <br /> . Accident Insurance and Liability Insurance forVllla~e Insllectors. <br /> Crichton reported that the Finance Committee recommends that the Civil <br /> Defense accident Insurance be discontinue,; that workmen's compen- <br /> sation Insurance be obtained for Village Volunteers; that liability <br /> Insurance be made available to Village Inspectors at cost. <br /> Crichton moved that the Clerk be authorized to obtain workmen's <br /> compensation coverage for Village Volunteer workers, effective <br /> January 31, 1974, at a cost of $250.00/year; to discontinue the Civil <br /> Defense accident Insurance coverage at $50.00/year (net cost of <br /> $200.00/year). Motion carried una n I mou sl y. <br /> Crichton moved, seconded by Olmen, that the Council approve the <br /> Village providing I lability Insurance to Village Inspectors at <br /> V Illage cost; Inspectors desiring this coverage to reimburse Village <br /> for premium. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Classification of EXl!ense Accounts <br /> Crichton distributed copies of expense catagorles to the Council for <br /> recommendations. Matter was deferred to the next Council meeting. <br /> Ordinance Review Committee Meeting of November 22, 1973 <br /> Crichton reported that the Ordinance Review Committee Is currently <br /> reviewing Crimes and Offenses Ordinances. Recommendatlo~ for Council <br /> consideration are expected at the next Council meeting. <br /> Resolution No. 73-39 - Ca st Iron Pille Refunds <br /> Crichton read the attached resolution In Its entirety and moved Its <br /> adoption. The motion was seconded by Olmen and carried unan Imous I y.. <br /> Fire Department - Joint Sub-committee <br /> Crichton reported that the sub-committee will meet In early December <br /> re proposal received for equipment purchase. <br /> REPORT OF COUNCILMAN STAN OLMEN - Public Works <br /> No report. <br /> REPORT OF MAYOR HENRY J. CREPEAU, JR. - General Government, Pub lie <br /> Safety <br /> (absent) <br /> ReQuest for Control of Animals and Birds Destroyin~ Crops <br /> . Mr. E. Flicek explained that he farms about 20 acres at Lexington <br /> Avenue and County Road F, and the pheasants and coons are destroying <br /> his corn crop. Mr. FI leek asked that the population of pheasants <br /> and coons be reduced and suggested that hunting seems to be the only <br /> effective way to eliminate them. P.e said trapping doesn't work. <br /> After discussion. Crichton moved that the Councl I authorize Acting <br /> Police Chief Sexton to proceed with a conducted hunt on the property <br /> this year, with off-duty police officers, and under the direction of <br /> the game warden, as outlined by Mr. Sexton; Mr. Flicek and Mr. Sexton <br /> to report In the spring re the effectiveness of this proposed solution <br /> to tho problem. t~otlon carried unanimously. <br /> (It was noted that this does not give Mr. Flicek permissIon to hunt on <br /> thIs property) . <br /> Investi~atlve Camera <br /> Acting Pollee Chief Pat Sexton explained the need for an InvestigatIve <br /> camera for use by the Pollee Department. <br /> -4- <br /> ---..-" ---~----_..- <br />
