<br /> - <br /> , <br /> Minutes of Regular Council Meeting October 8, 1973 <br /> Page four <br /> Utllltv Bill - 1833 La ke Lane <br /> Cou nc i I directed Clerk to charge penalty to former owner, <br /> REPORT OF COUNCilMAN STAN OlMEN - Public Works <br /> (Report by Bud Johansen) <br /> Lift Station No.8 Repairs <br /> Bud Johansen referred to his memo of September 28, 1973 re needed <br /> repairs to 11ft station No. 8, reporting that the station Is now operat~ <br /> Ing on one (I) pump; emergency repairs are being made on the second <br /> . pump. <br /> Johansen will prepare cost estimates for more extensive rebuilding <br /> and up-grading of station for Council review. <br /> Public Works Committee Appointment <br /> Johansen reported that he had contacted Mr. Duane Long re serving as <br /> a member of the Public Works Committee for the balance of 1973, and <br /> Mr. long Is willing to serve. <br /> Crichton moved, seconded by Olmen, that the Council approves tile <br /> appointment by the Mayor of Mr. Duane Long, as a member of tile Public <br /> Works Committee for the balance of 1973. Motion carried unanimously, <br /> REPORT OF COUNCILMAN RONALD HERRICK - Parks and Recreation <br /> Part-time Emplovee <br /> Mr. Buckley reported that Jeff Stedman has been working part-time <br /> for the Parks Department, cutting grass, during September and October. <br /> Mr. Buckley estimated the need for one more cutting of tile parks, and <br /> requested Council approval of the part-time employment of Jeff Sted- <br /> man. <br /> Herrick moved, seconded by Hol lenhorst, that the Council approve the <br /> part-time amployment of Jeff Stedman at $2.0C/llr. Motion carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> Valentine Perk llQhtlnQ <br /> Mr. Buckley reported that two neighborhood meetings have been held re <br /> the proposed lighting of Valentine Park, and the residents are In <br /> favor of tile propos~d lighting: <br /> I - 1000 watt mercury vapor light, to light the skating <br /> rink are... <br /> I - 400 watt light to light a proposed hard-surf<lce volley- <br /> ba II, ba.sketba II area. <br /> I - 250 watt night Ilgllt. <br /> Herrick moved, seconded by Crichton, th..t the Council approves the <br /> Ilglltlng proposed for Valentine Park and autllorlzes Mr. Buckley to <br /> proceed with tile lighting Installations at Perry and Valentine Parks, <br /> as described. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> . Sampson Park Donations <br /> Crlcllton expressed his appreciation to tlle"Mrs. Jaycee~ for their <br /> recent donation to the Parks Department for a ~l ide at Sampson Park. <br /> Mr. Buckley reported that the cllildren and Mrs. Jaycees have been <br /> sent letters of appreciation for tile donations for the slide; the <br /> slide will be installed In the spring of 1974. <br /> North Suburban Day Activities Center <br /> Herrick reported that Arden Hills lias again been requested to donate <br /> $362.40 to the North Suburban Day Activity Center for 1973. Herrick <br /> noted that there are no Arden HI Its residents participating In tile <br /> program at the present time. <br /> After discussion, Mrs. McNlesh w,s requested to write to the North <br /> Suburban Day Activity Center, advising that Arden HI lIs Is not plan- <br /> ning to participate In the program tills year, unless Village resi- <br /> dents are involved In the progl-am. <br /> -4- <br />
