<br />f~lnutes of Regular Counci I Meeting <br />Puge Five <br /> <br />May 29, 1973 <br /> <br />19(4 Budget Ca!e~dar <br /> <br />Crichton noted a change In the budget calendar requiring that al! <br />budget requests be submitted by August r, 1973. <br /> <br />REPORT OF COUNCILMAN STAN OLMEN - Public Works <br /> <br />Warning Light Cost Analysis <br /> <br />Mr. Johansen briefly reviewed his report re warning lights, and the <br />Council requested thatccopJes of the report be sent to the Public <br />Works Committee. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Temporarv Summer Emplo~ee Appointments <br /> <br />Mr. Johansen recommended Councl I appointment of William Karth (currently <br />employed In the PUblic Works Department asa part-time employee), Steve <br />Fisher and John Selvog as full time temporary summer employees until, <br />September I, 1973. <br /> <br />Olmen moved, seconded by Hollenhorst, that ~he Council approve the <br />appointments, as recommended, at $2.50/hour; Steve Fisher and John <br />Selvog to start June 7~ 1973. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Herrick again urged that Arden Hills residents be employed. <br /> <br />Gas Purchaso Status <br /> <br />Mr. Johansen reported that It 15 becoming more and more difficult <br />to get ~as deliveries; could not get delivery this week, but may <br />be able to get a delivery naxt week. ThaCouncil authorl~ad the pur- <br />chase of gas for Parks, Public Works and Police Vehicles directly <br />from the stations, if the situation bacomes critical. <br /> <br />REPORT OF COUNCILMAN RON HERRICK - Parks and Recreation <br />(Reported by Parks ~Irector John Buckleyl, <br /> <br />Valentine Park Oralnag$ <br /> <br />Mr. Buckley reported that two verbal estimates have been received for <br />the .proposed dltchln$!. at Valentine Park: <br /> <br />$22/hr - estimated time to complete - 5 days <br /> <br />$20/hr - no 6stlmat~ as to time to complete. <br /> <br />AdditIonal estimates will be pursued. <br /> <br />Mr. Buckley reported that the proposed meeting with the University <br />Professor has not been held todats because the professor has been <br />out of town. He adv I sed that Mr. Boss Is arrang I ng th 15 meet I n9. <br /> <br />~lacktoPRlna 81ds - Village Hall and Public Works Building <br /> <br />. Mr. Buckley reported that one Informal bid" In the amount of $6,703.65, <br />has been received and Mr. Boss Is seeklog additional Informal bids <br />which will hopefully be under $5.000.00. <br /> <br />Crichton noted that the bid received, using optional curb 2, Is actually <br />$4,862.00. <br /> <br />Dutch Elm Disease <br />- , <br /> <br />Mr. Buckley reported that in the past, two trees have bean infected <br />with Dutch Elm Disease. Dr. French has noted these while conducting <br />the Oak Wilt Survey. Mr. Buckley advised the Council that th& Oak <br />Wilt Ordinance does not cover Dutch Elm Disease. <br /> <br />-5- <br />
