MotIon carried unanimously. <br /> <br />REPORT OF COUNCILMAN WILLIAM FEYEREISEN - Parks and Recreation, <br />Human Rights <br /> <br />Parks and Recreation Meeting, April 9, 1974: <br />A. Bike Trail SI~ns <br />Buckley descr bed a system of biking tral Is along certain <br />streets In the Vi Ilage and requested permission to Instal I <br />bike trail signs. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />After discussion, Buckley was authorized to place bike trail <br />signs along "heavi Iy traveled" roads) such as Johanna Blvd., <br />County Road E2, County Road F etc., to alert motorists to <br />bi cyc lists. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Summer Recreation Program <br />Buckley reported that the Parks and Recreation Committee <br />recommends the hiring of three boys and three girls for <br />the six playground summer program at the fol lowing salaries: <br /> <br />$2.00/hr. for High School students <br />$2.25/hr. for College students <br />$2.50/hr. for College graduates, <br /> <br />program to run 5 hours/day, 5 days/week, for 7 weeks. <br /> <br />C. Appointment of Cind~ Nelson - Intern <br />Buckley reported that Cindy Nelson, a college student, has <br />requested to work as an Intern In the Parks and Recreation <br />Department this summer, free of charge, and recommended her <br />appointment In this capacity. <br /> <br />The Councl I concurred with the appointment. <br /> <br />D. Summe r Yo... lh Proq ram <br />Buckley said the Parks Department could use the 3 or 4 <br />Summer Youth Program people @ $2.00/hr.; this would necessi- <br />tate also hiring two col lege students or adults @ $3.00/hr. <br />It was suggested that one of the Parks and Recreation Interns <br />might be considered In lieu of one of the col lege students, <br />and It was also noted that the Public Works Department and <br />AdministratIve Office might also want to share In the Summer <br />Youth Program. Matter was deferred to a later meeting. <br /> <br />Report on Diseased Trees <br />Buckley reported that the re-Inspectlon of diseased trees has been <br />completed; property owners have been notified. by letter of how to <br />dispose of trees whiCh must be destroyed. <br /> <br />Ordinance re.Motorlzed Vehicles In Vi.liage Parks and Trails <br />Buckley reported extensive damage to Perry Park and the terrain east <br />of the park, by motorized vehicles. <br /> <br />Mayor Crepeau read ,a letter from a resident re a similar problem In <br />. the Pedestrian Trall-Glenpaul Avenue area. <br /> <br />After discussion, the matter was referred to Police Chief Sexton, <br />Public Safety Committee, John Buckley and Vlc Pomerenke for recom- <br />mendations to the Councl I, <br /> <br />Human Rights Commission <br />Library Lecture - Feyereisen reminded the Councl I of the Library <br />Lecture on May 2 at 8:00 p.m - AffirmatIve Action, Employee's Role <br />and Community's Role; speakers to be Congressman .Joseph Karth and Mr. <br />dill EnglIsh, Control Data Corporation. <br /> <br />Nett Lake Visitors - Feyerelsen reported that the Human Rights Commis- <br />sion members will host Nett Lake area chi Idren In their homes the <br />weekend of May 17th) the chi Idren wi II tour the IDS Center, Como Park, <br />YMCA etc. while visiting here. <br /> <br />-6- <br />
