Land seap I ng ha s to be done. <br /> <br />REPORT OF VILLAGE TREASURER RICHARD O'KELLY <br /> <br />Treasurer O'Kelly reported cash balances In the three banks, and <br />advised he has made no Investments since the last Council meeting. <br /> <br />~ REPORT Of COUNCILMAN JAMES WINGERT - Planning and Zoning, Board of <br />Appeals <br /> <br />Bethel College Student Housing <br />President Lundquist, Bethel College, described plans to Improve fire <br />safety in the student housing buildings at Bethel, In compliance with <br />suggested changes requested by Fire Chief Fischer. He said smoke <br />and fire detectors wi II be Installed Immediately; access road and turn- <br />around area aRe flr9 Ayara~t IRc+~1 latleA wi II be completed as soon <br />as ~eather permits; third floor egress modifications will be done as <br />soon as buildings are vacant. <br /> <br />The Council suggested that more fire extinguishers be Installed during <br />the Interim perIod, which Mr. Lundquist assured the Council they <br />would do Immediately. <br /> <br />Mayor Crepeau offered to talk wltn Fire Chief Fischer to see If the <br />changes outlined will suffice. <br /> <br />f~e NO',74-1. Mounds View Hi~h Sc~ool - Geodesic Structure <br />Mr. Roland Johnson and MI". David Pierre, students at MoundS V.lew High <br />School, presented a model and plans of a geodesic structure which <br />they proposo to construct and locate on the Mounds View High School <br />site, 23 feet from the east side of the school building; proposed use <br />Is for a re-cycllng center. They suggested other uses for the struc- <br />ture could be to store wood and/or metal for shop courses, machinery <br />storage, or a green house. <br /> <br />Miss JanMeinen explained that glass, metal, 'rln etc. are sorted by <br />MEAN (Minnesotans for Environmental Action Now); after sorting, ~he <br />materials are picked up by the Metro recycling center. <br /> <br />Building Inspector Squires advised that the structure meets code J <br />or the UnIform Building Code; therefore, it can be located as proposed. <br /> <br />Mr. Pierre and Mr. Johnson said the~dr to the building wi II face <br />south, and the building site ylll be landscaped.
