Motion was <br />seconded by Olmen and carried unanimously. <br /> <br />S~b-commlttee ReQort - Fire Department Lad~ Truck <br />Crichton reported that specifications have now been developed for <br />a ladder truck, plus add-ons; a number of com~anles should be able <br />to bid on the truck and/or add-ons. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Crichton reported that It Is the recommendation of the Sub-committee <br />because of an estimated. million dol lars.ln equipment purchases <br />over the next ten years, that the three Villages (Shorevlew, North <br />Oaks, Arden Hills) proceed with a Joint Powers Agreement to Jointly <br />purchase and own the proposed ladder truck (and future large equip- <br />ment) and lease It to the fire department to use and maintain. <br /> <br />The Council concurred with this approach. No action was taken. <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 177 <br />Crichton moved that the Council Introduce by title, Ordinance No. 177, <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 110 BY ADJUSTING VACATION BENEfiTS. <br />Motion was seconded by Wingert and carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Review of R.C.L. By-laws <br />Crichton sU9gested that, since the R.C.L. By-laws are to be revised, <br />that the Arden Hills Council give deep thought to the League proposal <br />that school districts be included as government units. Discussion <br />on the matter was deferred to next Council meeting. <br /> <br />REPORT OF COUNCILMAN WILLIAM FEYEREtSEN - Parks and Recreation, <br />Human Rights <br /> <br />'-ton PIckup Truck and Tractor <br />Feyerelsen reviewed quotes from the 7 dealers, and moved, seconded <br />by WIngert, that the Council approve the purchase of the '-ton pickup <br />.truck from Midway Ford at a cost of $2484. Motion carried unanimOUSly. <br /> <br />After review of the 7 q,uotes received, Feyerelsen moVed, seconded by <br />Wingert, that the Council approve the purchase of a Massey Ferguson <br />tractor from Farm Service Store at a cost of $4669.00 (IncludIng <br />mower and canopy). Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Human Rights Commission Meeting - February 7. 1974 <br />Feyerelsen reported that Individual members of the Human Rights Com- <br />mission are forming Galson interest groups re legislature activities, <br />surface water control In the Village, etc. for their reports to the <br />Commission. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />New erlghton Road - Pedestrian Safety <br />Feyerelsen reported an apparent safety problem for children walkIng to <br />SChool along New Brighton Road, especially In the area between Stowe <br />Avenue and County Road D. <br /> <br />Feyerelsen suggested that study be made of the situation to see If <br />pedestrian travel can be Improved In this area. <br /> <br />Tne matter was deferred to the next Council meeting at which time the <br />Council wi II consider some definitive action for Improved pedestrian <br />travel in this area. <br /> <br />Mayor Crepeau suggested that, In the Interim, the County be contacted <br />re its suggestions to improve the safety In this area for pedestrian <br />travel. <br /> <br />-6- <br />
