Motion carried unanimously (4-0). I OTHER BUSINESS Public Safety Committee Recommendations re Fire Contract - Susanna Taylor Susanna Taylor reported tha t the Fire Board and the Arden Hills . Public Safety Commi t tee recommend the following Fire Contract changes: (1) Sec. 2. Juriadictions: add "Updated plats are to be provided by cities to department" (2) See, 15. Inspections: add "it is the responsibility of the cities to notify the department of new group homes in the community" (3) The committee further recommends: a contract of something less than 5 years with a pos- sibility of reverting back to a schedule cona is ten t with a calendar year a change in the joint powers agreemen t and a change in the contract based on market value. The committee will continue to study this to come up wi th another formula. It is our feeling that the contracted service required is not directly proportional to market value since the greater share in market-value is related to expanding commercial properties: Land O'Lakes, MSI, Cardiac Pacemakers, etc. These buildings are built with sprinkling sys tems and fire resistant materials. Johnson said the committee wants to maintain the present respe c t and rapport the municipalities have with the fire department, and still relay concern; suggested that possib ly sn 18 mo. - 2 year contract, instead of 5 year, be cons i de re d. Council concurred that an ISO inspection should be made, Status Report - Motorola Tower S t rob e Lil!hts Council was referred to McNiesh's memo of 12-11-81 and to corre- spondence received relative to certain tower snnoyances. Sally Jones said that she feels the strobes are irritating in the day as well as at night; understands there is a light option - strobe on top, with red lights below. Ade Ie Anderson said the strobes are very devastating to the environment. . It was noted that Dan Vaughan and Marty Nelson are responding to the comp lain ts and will be in contact with the Council relative to possible solutions to the problems. Requests for Time Extension for Filing Final Plat: : A. Case No. 81-15, Janet Estates - Amended Subdivision - Six month Extension to June 8 , 1982 McAllister moved, seconded by Hollenhorst, thst Council gran t an extension for filing the Final Plat of Amended Janet Estates to June 8, 1982.
