<br /> . . <br /> Minutes of Regular Council Meeting September 29, 1980 <br /> Page five J <br /> OTHER BUSINESS <br /> 1981 Budget: <br /> Finance Committee Recommendations <br /> Chairman Thomas Mulcahy presented the Finance Committee'. recom- <br /> mended changes to the proposed 1981 Budget, a summa ry of which <br /> was presented on a transparency for Council's consideration. <br /> Mul cahy qoted the following increases in General Fund expendi- <br /> tures over the years: <br /> '79 over . 78 - 13% <br /> '80 over '79 - 6% <br /> . ' 81 over '80 - 9.8% <br /> reported that it is the Finance Committee's intent to study con- <br /> sultant fees 1 a te r this year or next for recommendations to <br /> Coun ci 1- <br /> Mulcahy commended the Council for exe rcis ing "remarkatlle re- <br /> straintll ; said the budgeting pro cess wo rk s in this village; as <br /> a resDlt, there are no deficits or disas tel's. <br /> Mayor Crepeau thanked Mr. Mulcahy and the Finance Committee for <br /> its diligent work during the year. <br /> Council discussed proposed me ans of financing the 1981 Budge t; <br /> reviewed a memo from Park s Director Buckley and attached accoun t <br /> of routine maintenance time for the various park s and trails; <br /> reviewed a memo from Public Works Supervisor Johansen re-es ti- <br /> mated cost to correct staining of exterior walls of the Village <br /> Hall. <br /> Council discussed the increasing park maintenance cos ts and the <br /> proposed addition of another parks department employee. Hanson <br /> raported tha t he had advised the Human Rights Commission and the <br /> Parks Committee that at the join t Finance Committee-Department <br /> Heads-Council" proposed budget review" meeting on Sept. 11, it <br /> appeared a majority of the counci 1 would not f av or tile addition <br /> of another s umme r employee to the Parks Dept. for increased <br /> maintenance, but if another person is added for park main tenance , <br /> he should be under Johansen's supervision, and that this matter <br /> will be discussed fur the I' at the Sep t. 29 Council meeting when <br /> the 1981 budget will be finalized. No significant response was <br /> elicited from either group.
