Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Approval of Swimming Instructo~ <br />Hanson moved, seconded by Wingert, that Council authorize the hiring <br />of Greg Schmaedeke as Swimming Instructor at Lake Johanna Beach for <br />the 1980 Summer Program at $S.SO/hr., effective July 7, 19S0. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Northwestern Colle e A reement re Use of Athletic F*cilities <br />Hanson referred Council to Regnier's letter of 6 30 SO; suggested <br />that Item #5 be deleted; believes it contradicts Item #1 and moved <br />to accept the Athletic Agreement proposal. Motion was seconded by <br />Crich ton. <br /> <br />I, discussion, the deletion of Item #5 was qu.~tioned. <br />expressed ralative to requiring Northwestern to donate <br />facilities "forever". Neighborhood, at present, has no place to <br />play ball, s~ for walks, etc. <br /> <br />It was noted by Council that the Arden 3 neighborhood has strongly <br />indicated that it does not want any access from the neighborhood to <br />Northwestern College. It was suggested that a "cash" park settle- <br />ment might be preferable in view of the situation. <br /> <br />Motion did not pass (Hanson voting in favor of the Motion; Wingert. <br />Woodburn, Crichton, Crepeau voting in opposition). <br /> <br />Crichton agreed to pursue park dedication ..3!l.tlat:loas with North- <br />western College. <br /> <br />Bethel College Trails <br />Hanson referred Council to the Bethel College jogging and nature <br />trails delineated on map submitted by Bethel College; suggested <br />that Council accept the puklic use easement of these trails in <br />lieu of park dedication. <br /> <br />After discuSSion, map was referred to Attorney Lynden to prepare <br />an Agreement for Council's conSideration, based on the drawing sub- <br />mitted. <br /> <br />REPORT OF VILLAGE ENGINEEN DONALD CHRISTOFFERSEN <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Speeial Assessments - Karth Lake West <br />Council was referred to the Karth Lake West Improvement relative to <br />assessment policy re the two lots on Amble Road abutting Dellwood <br />Street; noted that the City owns the lot on the west side. <br /> <br />After discussion, Council concurred that both lots be assessed l/2 <br />s t re e t un it. <br /> <br />Report on Shorewood Drive Survey <br />Council was referred to Christoffersen's letter of 7/10/80, relative <br />to the location of the southerly portion of Shorewood Drive in <br />respect to abutting property. <br /> <br />Christoffersen also referred to an Easement relative to the road <br />which ,e,~s~~'ibes a 66 it. right-of-way which he was not aware of <br />until tonight's meeting; suggested that the Easement be referred <br />to City Attorney. <br /> <br />-2- <br />
