Motion carried unanimously. (3-0) <br /> <br />Council was referred to a meIllQ["andum fram Public Works <br />SUperinten:lent Winkel dated 6-25-91, an:l. a letter from <br />Brann Intertec, dated 7-9-91, relative to rust problems <br />at the city water tower located on Fernwood Avenue. <br /> <br />Winkel reviewed the report from Brann an:l. related discussions regarding <br />procedures for repairs. He recormnended MSA draft specifications for the work to <br />be done, as indicated in the report. <br /> <br />REPAIR RUST <br />PROBLEM; FERNl'KXlD <br />AVE. WATER rr:MER <br /> <br />Councilmernber MahCMald questioned if a cost estimate is available an:l. what length <br />of ti1ne is required for the repairs outlined in the report. <br /> <br />The Public Works SUperintendent estimated the ti1ne for repairs at approx:i1nately <br />two or three weeks. Winkel advised there is no cost estimate available at this <br />ti1ne; indicated the figure may be between $20,000.00 to $30,000.00, dependin1 on <br />the work required. <br /> <br />Actin1 Mayor Malone questioned the cost of the report from Brann Intertec an:l. <br />expressed his displeasure with the content of the report. He also noted the <br />report specifies damage to the top of the structure, which appears to have been <br />caused by installation of the Cellular One antennas, an:l. suggested review of the <br />contract with Cellular One to detennine liability for damage to the tower. <br /> <br />Winkel agreed the report was less informative than he expected. He explained he <br />has not seen the billin1 statement from Brann Intertec an:l. recalled that Council <br />authorized a $3,000.00 expenditure for the report. <br /> <br />Council con=ed that staff should review the contract with Cellular One to <br />detennine responsibility for damage to the top of the tower caused by <br />installation of the antennas. <br /> <br />Growe noved, secorxied by MahCMald, to authorize Maier <br />Stewart & Associates, to proceed with draftin1 specifications for work to be done <br />on the water tower, as recommended in the Public Works SUperintendent's report <br />dated 7-25-91, am request staff to include facts which detennine the extent of <br />damage caused by Cellular One's placement of antermas on the structure am <br />responsibility for reiInbursernent of costs associated with repair of such damage. <br />Motion carried unanimously. (3-0) <br /> <br />Actin1 Mayor Malone suggested the Public works SUperintendent contact Cellular <br />One to determine when the antennae replacement is to be corrpleted. <br />
