Motion was seconded by <br />Hicks, and carried unanJmously. (5-0) <br /> <br />Report on Metropolitan Loser's Group <br /> <br />Council was referred to MeAl lister's memo re Metropolitan Loser's Group meeting <br />on 8/16/83. <br /> <br />Council duscussed pros and cons of the suggested hiring of a lobbyist to assist <br />municipalities In their efforts to recover losses. One concern expressed was <br />that the loser cities would not have sufficient number of votes, even If they . <br />band together. Contrary to this concern was the feeling that the loser cities <br />must lobby as a group, which would be more effective than hiring a lobbyist. <br />>>k#l "';. .I j <br />-~~~. reported that at the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Meeting, <br />It was reported that the business community Is going to try to do lObbying. <br /> <br />No Councl I action was taken. <br /> <br />REPORT OF CLERK ADMINISTRATOR CHARLOTTE McNIESH <br /> <br />Claims and Pavrol I <br /> <br />Councl I was referred to list of additional claims amounting to $103,143.24 <br />and to Payroll submitted for approval. <br /> <br />MeAl lister moved, seconded by Mulcahy, that Council approve the Payroll and <br />Claims as submitted. Motion carried unanimously. (5-0) <br /> <br />Suburban Business Magazine - Letter of August 18, 1983, Requesting an <br />Individual who Is Deservlnq of a Profile <br /> <br />McNlesh asked for Councl l'S recommendations; noted that the recommendation Is <br />requested by August 30th. <br /> <br />Fal I Festival Raffle Tickets <br /> <br />McNlesh reported that she has Arden HII Is Fal I Festival raffle tickets available <br />for anyone desiring to purchase them; noted that proceeds wi II go to the Arden <br />HII Is Parks and Recreation Department. <br /> <br />OTHER BUS I NESS <br /> <br />I.C. Svstems Bu! IdlnQ <br /> <br />Mulcahy reported that he was asked by a realtor If Arden HI lis would be Interested <br />In the I.C.Systems Building for the Vi I lage offlc~s. <br /> <br />Councl I concurred that It is too large for the City's ne~ds and budget. <br /> <br />Notice of Meeting to Consider an Increase In the Number of Managers for the <br />Rice Creek Watershed District <br /> <br />Councl I concurred that the 5-member board Is adequate and requested McNiesh . <br />to draft a Resolution for Council's consideration at the August 29th Councl I <br />meeting, Incorporating reasons discussed. <br /> <br />Comments re Proposed 1983 Permit/License Fees <br /> <br />Councl I concurred that copies of comments be forwarded to the Finance Committee. <br /> <br />Copies of the list of Arden Hills fees, compared to those of surrounding cities, <br />was requested for Councl I consideration. <br /> <br />Ad iournment <br />Hicks moved, seconded by MeAl lister, <br />Motion carried unanimously.
