(5-0) Report on Metropolitan Loser's Group Council was referred to MeAl lister's memo re Metropolitan Loser's Group meeting on 8/16/83. Council duscussed pros and cons of the suggested hiring of a lobbyist to assist municipalities In their efforts to recover losses. One concern expressed was that the loser cities would not have sufficient number of votes, even If they . band together. Contrary to this concern was the feeling that the loser cities must lobby as a group, which would be more effective than hiring a lobbyist. >>k#l "';. .I j -~~~. reported that at the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Meeting, It was reported that the business community Is going to try to do lObbying. No Councl I action was taken. REPORT OF CLERK ADMINISTRATOR CHARLOTTE McNIESH Claims and Pavrol I Councl I was referred to list of additional claims amounting to $103,143.24 and to Payroll submitted for approval. MeAl lister moved, seconded by Mulcahy, that Council approve the Payroll and Claims as submitted. Motion carried unanimously. (5-0) Suburban Business Magazine - Letter of August 18, 1983, Requesting an Individual who Is Deservlnq of a Profile McNlesh asked for Councl l'S recommendations; noted that the recommendation Is requested by August 30th. Fal I Festival Raffle Tickets McNlesh reported that she has Arden HII Is Fal I Festival raffle tickets available for anyone desiring to purchase them; noted that proceeds wi II go to the Arden HII Is Parks and Recreation Department. OTHER BUS I NESS I.C. Svstems Bu! IdlnQ Mulcahy reported that he was asked by a realtor If Arden HI lis would be Interested In the I.C.Systems Building for the Vi I lage offlc~s. Councl I concurred that It is too large for the City's ne~ds and budget. Notice of Meeting to Consider an Increase In the Number of Managers for the Rice Creek Watershed District Councl I concurred that the 5-member board Is adequate and requested McNiesh . to draft a Resolution for Council's consideration at the August 29th Councl I meeting, Incorporating reasons discussed. Comments re Proposed 1983 Permit/License Fees Councl I concurred that copies of comments be forwarded to the Finance Committee. Copies of the list of Arden Hills fees, compared to those of surrounding cities, was requested for Councl I consideration.
