No. 83-2 <br /> <br />Council ~as referred to Bid Tabulation of 3 bids received and <br />to Engineer Christoffersen's letter of 6-10-83. 4It <br /> <br />Hicks moved, seconded by McAllister, that Council adopt Resolution <br />No. 83-32, Awarding the bid to the low bidder - H.B.H. Construction, <br />in the amount of $22,728.20 for Improvement No. 83-2. Motion <br />carried unanimous1y.(5-0) <br /> <br />Planning Commission Resignation <br /> <br />Cou~cil was referred to letter from Gary Thorn (5-23-83). <br /> <br />McAllister moved, seconded by Hicks, that Council accept the resig- <br />nation of Gary Thorn from the Planning Commission. Hotion carried <br />unanimously. (5-0) <br /> <br />Board of Appeals Appol~~~ <br /> <br />Hicks recommended the appointment of Gary Thorn as Chairman of <br />the Board of Appeals; reported that Thorn has agreed to serve <br />in this capacity. <br /> <br />Woodburn appointed Gary Thorn as Chairman of the Board of Appeals <br />for the balance of 1983. <br /> <br />Hick moved, seconded by Mulcahy, that Council approve the appoint- <br />ment. Motion carried unanimously. (5-0) <br /> <br />Finance Committee Recommendations for License and Permit Fees, <br />Effective 1-1-84 <br /> <br />Council reviewed the proposed license and permit fees recommended <br />by the Finance Committee, effective 1-1-84. <br /> <br />After discussion, Council requested McNiesh to notify business <br />places of the proposed changes, requesting comments prior to <br />July 31st, and to publicize the proposed changes in the New Brighton <br />Bulletin and ~_Crie..!.. <br /> <br />Requests for Signage <br /> <br />Speed Limit Sign - Colleen_._~'y~ <br /> <br />Council was referred to McNiesh's memo (6-3-83). McNiesh <br />reported that Ramsey County ran radar on Colleen for two <br />successive days; no cars exceeded 31 mph; reported that <br />Sheriff Deputy feels that people think cars are going <br />faster than they really are. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />In discussion, it was noted that signs are not a deterent <br />to speeders; 30 mph is the speed limit on all residential <br />streets, unless posted otherwise; it is not City policy <br />to post speed signs on residential streets. <br /> <br />No Parking Si.lIps - ~.!_~.~_Yl..!.w_ll.!.~~ <br /> <br />Chrisiansen reported that the street is narrow at the <br />Y intersection; a retaining wall restricts vision; cars <br />parked on both sides of the street in this area are <br />for the tennis court and maintenance people. <br /> <br />Council referred the matter to the Public Safety Com- <br />mittee for its recommendations. <br /> <br />-6- <br />
