McNiesh reported that after Pat Sexton died, Mrs. Sexton trans- ferred her business to a Minneapolis location; now wishes to have the antique shop at home again. McNiesh described the operation as very "low key". . Mrs. Sexton said the situation is the same as it was when the original Special Use Permit was issued: - has six off-street parking spaces - intends to be open Wednesday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. - has a small sign near the door to the shop, which she tips over when shop is not open; explained she us~ to have another sign near her mailbox, which she would stick in the ground, but she no longer has this sign. Mulcahy moved, seconded by Hicks, that Council rreinstate the Special Use Permit for the Antique Shop at 333U Lake Jonanna ~lva. for an indefinite period. Hicks moved to amend the Motion to limit the hours of operation to 11:00 to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday. Mulcahy did not accept the amendment; felt it is not realistic to attach this limitation to the Special Use Permit. Hicks withdrew his amendment. The Motion carried (Mulcahy, Hicks, Christiansen, WOOdburn voting in favor of the Motion; McAllister voting in opposition (4-1). (McAllister noted that the ordinance requires a new application, including a public hearing, if a SUP has been discontinued for a period of ninety consecutive days; feels this procedure should be required. ) Approval of Summer Playground Leaders Council was referred to Buckley's memo (6-9-83) recommending the hiring of Summer Program personnel for 1983. Mulcahy moved, seconded by McAllister, that Council approve the hiring of Summer Playground personnel as submitted. Motion carried unanimously. (5-0) Report on Fire Board Meeting of June 2nd McAllister referred Council to her memo (6-2-83) and to Minutes of the Fire Board Meeting on June 2. . McAllister reported that the Fire Board agrees that a third fire station is needed; existing stations are a long way from the northern area of Shoreview currently being developed; noted the several site possibilities now under consideration. Another site possibility suggested was that approximately two acres in the arsenal be requested, north of archery range, for a fire station. Financing of a third station was discussed. It was noted that the three contracting cities will, no doubt, realize an increased cost for fire protection; Shoreview will pay a higher percentage as Shoreview develops to the north. It was noted that Arden Hills does not have additional funds available; Lake Johanna Fire Dept. should be able to manage the costs (buildings, trucks, etc.) within its bud- get as per contract. It was queried how the existing two stations were financed. -7-
