<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Minutes of Regular Council Meeting <br />July 26, 1982 <br />Page Six <br /> <br />Public Safety Committee Vice Chairman <br /> <br />Johnson reported that Karen Hanson has agreed to serve as Vice <br />Chairman of the Public Safety Committee to assist Chairman Susie <br />Taylor. <br /> <br />Civil Defense Director <br /> <br />Johnaon reported that Jim Schmaedeke has adviaed he will continue <br />to serve in bis present capacity as Civil Defense Director, but <br />does not have the time to attend the meetings required for certi- <br />fication. It was one member's opinion that Arden Hills should <br />have a Certified Civil Defense Director. The Committee took no <br />action on this matter. <br /> <br />Parking Signs at Arden Plaza <br /> <br />McNiesh reported that the signs are to be in place, she was advised, <br />before the opening of the Pizza Hut. <br /> <br />Hamline Avenue Striping <br /> <br />McNiesh reported that Public Works Supervisor Johansen's intent is <br />to stripe Hamline Avenue in the spring of '83 after the street <br />sweeping. <br /> <br />Johansen was requested to memo the Public Safety Committee relative <br />to the reasons for not striping now. . <br /> <br />Use of Black Diamond on City Streets <br /> <br />Mulcahy reported thst the Public Works Committee will re-consider <br />its previous recommendation if more information is received from <br />the public relative to dsmages because of the'use of Black Diamond. <br /> <br />Cummings Park <br /> <br />Mulcahy reported that the Parks Committee plans to do nothing with <br />Cummings Park pending neighborhood concensus. <br /> <br />Arsenal Acreage <br /> <br />Mulcahy reported that the 35 acres for sale in the arsenal may n~ <br />be available for several years; consequently, is not an immediate <br />potential for ball fields. <br /> <br />Budget Recommendations <br /> <br />Mulcshy reported that the Public Works Committee proposes heavy <br />capital expenditures for vehicles and to rebuild Lift Station No. 3 <br />"in 1983; reported that the Parks Committee's major recommendations <br />include lighting of the Hazelnut rink and $37,000 for capital improve- <br />ments, $30.000 of which is for play equipment. <br /> <br />Mulcahy said he feels the park planning is well done; feels there <br />is a need for a summary on effect of park development on operating <br />costs. <br /> <br />Ag-lime Policy for Trail System <br /> <br />Mulcahy said he feels the City should <br />of Ag-lime surfacing for the trail s ;,m; l~P <br />owners adjacent to the trails have ,~, <br />Jr jj , J .",.wood Chips,.
