Metricom <br /> 1) The committee examined the proposed contract between the City of Arden <br /> Hills and Metricom per Joe Lynch's request. <br /> a) Under the proposed contract, Metricom would provide wireless WWW <br /> access to city residents. In its discussion, the committee <br /> listed several concerns. <br /> c) Chairman Kelliher moved a recommendation that was seconded. <br /> • <br /> "The committee recommends that the city council consider the contract but not be <br /> limited to: <br /> 1. The environmental impact of the devices; <br /> 2. That the city be assured that there is not an appliance interference with cordless <br /> telephones, radios, televisions, garage doors, pacemakers, etc.; <br /> 3. The contract have a sunset clause to allow for renegotiation on a regular basis <br /> (every three or five years); <br /> 4. Royalties be translated into annual fees to avoid ambiguity of a fixed percentage; <br /> 5, The city inquire of the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities(AMIvl) as to <br /> what other cites are doing regarding wireless WWW connection; <br /> 6, The city has a clause asking for"right-of-way" restoration reimbursement(to <br /> cover the costs of damages done by Metricom during installation)." <br /> The recommendation passed by a 6-0 margin. <br /> • <br />
