~
,
Minutes of Regular Council Meeting, October 13, 1986
Page 5
Case No. 86-30, Site Plan/BuildinR Permit Review for Addition to Bodien Hall,
Bethel ColleRe and Seminary
The Planner referred Council to Planning Commission Minutes of 10-1-86 and
Planner's memo of 9-23-86.
Hansen asked Mr. Jessup, representing Bethel College, if the building addition
would be sprinkled.
Jessup advised the addition would not be sprinkled, but does meet Fire Code
requirements.
. Hansen asked the Planner if the access for emergency vehicles was sufficient.
Miller advised Council it would be as accessible with the addition as it is
currently.
Hansen moved, seconded by Hicks, that Council approve Case No. 86-30, Site
Plan/Building Permit Review for Addition to Bodien Hall, Bethel College and
Seminary, as submitted. Motion carried unanimously. (4-0)
Case No. 86-26, Proposed ChanRe in Exterior Material, 1253 Connelly Avenue,
Robert PURleasa Co., Inc.
The Planner advised Council this item was not reviewed by Planning Commission,
however it could be referred to them if Council wishes. Miller stated when the
building was originally approved it was to be constructed with metal exterior.
~he applicant has advised the Planner he wishes to change the exterior to a
decorative block, with a decorative brick front.
Gary Fochs and Robert Pugleasa were present. Fochs explained they have decided
to change the exterior but not the building floor plan.
Hansen asked if the block would be painted or plain.
Fochs displayed a sample of the brick front and advised they would try to match
the color of the block to the brick. He advised they would wait until building
was constructed and see if painting would make the building more attractive.
cHicks stated Pug leas a had argued it would be economically more feasible to use
the metal exterior. Hicks questioned why the applicant had changed the
material.
Fochs stated the change was due to the fact that mortgage rates were lower,
they now felt the building upkeep would be less expensive with the block, and
the applicant felt the value of the building would increase ultimately.
Hicks moved, seconded by Hansen, that Council approve Case No. 86-26, Proposed
Change in Exterior Material from Metal to Decorative Block, 1253 Connelly
Avenue, Robert Pugleasa Co., Inc. Motion carried unanimously. (4-0)
Council recessed for 10 minutes.
LANDSCAPE INSPECTION REPORT
.
