It was suggested that it might be useful to know where people <br />want lights and where they are not wanted, possibly adding a line or two <br />on the card for signature. The anticipated percentage of response was <br />queried. Malone said they anticipate a high response; noted survey card <br />will be postage paid; reported the Committee proposes to make phone calls <br />if 35% or more do not respond. The general concurrence was tqi't a uno <br />response" means "not interested". <br /> <br />.. .",.. <br /> <br />Council concurred to amend the third sentence of paragraph ~of the <br />narrative to read: "...so part of the operating cost will likely reduce . <br />other services currently provided." <br /> <br />Hicks moved, seconded by Sather, that Council approve the opinion survey <br />narrative and return card, as modified. Motion carried (Hicks, Sather, <br />Hansen voting in favor of the motion; Woodburn voting in opposition). <br />(3-1) <br /> <br />Letter from North Oaks re Fire Contract <br />Council was referred to rough draft of letter proposed by Councilmember Hansen, <br />to be sent to Fire Chief Dan Winkel. <br /> <br />After discussion, McNiesh was requested to send letter, as modified, to Fire <br />Chief, and copies thereof to North Oaks and Shoreview. <br /> <br />Letter from Shoreview re South End Fire Station <br />Council was referred to McNiesh's memO (5/19/86) re Fire Protection Needs <br />Study. <br /> <br />After discussion, Hicks moved, seconded <br />hiring of Bill Quirk as a consultant to <br />of $25/hour for an estimated 120 hours. <br /> <br />by Sather, that Council authorize the <br />study Arden Hills' fire needs at a cost <br />Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />Council concurred that Shoreview be advised of Council's action to hire a <br />consultant, anticipating information in approximately 30 days, after which <br />Arden Hills will respond to Shoreview re the proposed south fire station; if <br />Shoreview needs a response before that time, Shoreview should make its decision <br />without Arden Hills. <br /> <br />Preliminar Discussion - Additional Lake Johanna Controls <br />Council was referred to McNiesh's memo 5 15 86 re Lake Johanna Controls, and <br />letter from Ramsey County Engineer Ken Weltzin (5/8/86), and excerpt from City <br />of New Brighton Code, Article III, Long Lake Surface Use. <br /> <br />After discussion, Hansen moved, seconded by Hicks, to refer Sections 19-35 and <br />19-39 of the New Brighton Code to Attorney Lynden, and authorize Lynden to <br />draft similar sections amending the Arden Hills Code (Section 12) providing for <br />the closing of the lake surface of Lake Johanna by the Mayor, and including <br />exemptions. Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />Hicks moved, seconded by Hansen, to request DNR to consider construction of an <br />adjustable weir for the purpose of annual Lake Johanna shoreland management. <br />Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />Public Safety/Works Committee Resi~nation , <br />Hansen moved, seconded by Sather, to accept the resignation of Kevin Rautio <br />from the Public Safety/Works Committee. Motion carried unanimously.
