(4-0) <br />Approval of Winter Pro~ram Leaders and Rink Attendants <br />Council was referred to Buckley's memo (12/12/85) recommending the hiring <br />of 1985-1986 Winter Program Personnel. <br />Sather moved, seconded by Hicks, that Council approve the hiring of 1985-86 <br />winter program personnel as per Buckley's memo. Motion carried unanimously. <br />(4-0) <br />REPORT OF VILLAGE TREASURER DONALD LAMB . <br />Investments <br />11/29/85 - $131,367.67 at First Federal at 7.75% interest <br /> to mature 2/14/86. <br />12/6/85 - $535,000.00 at Twin City Federal at 7.91% interest <br /> to mature 11/14/86. <br /> - $302,509.22 at Twin City Federal at 6.5% interest <br /> to mature 12/26/85. <br />Hicks moved to ratify the Treasurer's investments. Motion was seconded <br />by Sather and carried unanimously. (4-0) <br />Radio Replacement Recommendation - Public Works Supervisor Robert Raddatz <br />Council was referred to Raddatz's memo of 12/13/85 re two-way radios. Raddatz <br />summarized the problems they have experienced with the old Motorola tube-style <br />radios; recommended that they be replaced with solid state Regency radios <br />and that the current Motorola maintenance contract be terminated. <br />Raddatz explained that two Regency radios can be purchased for $712.10 <br />(cost of contract/year is $768.60); noted that the base station should <br />also be replaced in the near future. Raddatz said the new radios have <br />an approximate one-year warranty; noted that a service contract for the <br />solid state radios is not recommended by the dealer; is purchasing four <br />radios in 1985 (one is for Park vehicle) and proposes to purchase two in <br />1986 and 1987, and possibly the base in 1987; noted that the new radios <br />are compatible with our base station. <br />McNiesh noted that Arden Hills has a tie-in with New Brighton on the base <br />station; the whole system may need to be updated. <br />Hicks moved, seconded by Sather, that Council concur with the radio purchases <br />outlined in Raddatz's memo and authorize the purchase of two radios in 1986 <br />at a cost of $712.10, and discontinuance of the service contract effective <br />1/1/86. Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br />Discussion - 1986 Committee Members <br />Woodburn noted that it has been the policy to not re-appoint Committee <br />members having less than 50% attendance, unless extenuating circumstances <br />have been the cause of poor attendance and that circumstance no longer <br />exists. Hansen concurred that this policy be continued when considering <br />appointments for 1986. <br />Council was referred to results of survey of Public Safety and Public Works . <br />committees regarding combining the committees. McNiesh referred Council <br />to the comments received; noted that 8 out of 14 favor the combined committee; <br />noted that two stated they would not serve on a combined committee. <br />McNiesh will compile list of potential 1986 committee members for Council <br />consideration at the December 30 meeting; list will be composed of names <br />received from Council liaison and requests from residents desiring appoint- <br />ment. <br />OTHER BUSINESS <br />Snowbirds - Sather noted that "snowbirds" make plowing difficult; suggested <br />
