<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Minutes of Regular Council Meeting, June 24 <br />Page five <br /> <br />StripinR of Ham1ine Avenue <br />Raddatz reported that, from past records, it appears the striping of Hamline <br />Avenue has been done every other year; 1984 striping cost was about $175.00 - <br />estimated cost at $175 to $200 if striped again in 1985; reported it is not <br />budgeted in 1985. <br /> <br />Raddatz suggested the installation of a few additional "No Passing" signs <br />and striping to indicate the right turn lane at Highway 96. as an alternative <br />to the striping of Ham1ine this year; noted that the City is not sure when <br />Ham1ine will be improved and striping cannot be seen in the winter months. <br /> <br />Raddatz reported that the Public Works Committee would like to look at the <br />condition of the existing striping; also would like to obtain cost of <br />striping the road and the turn lane by the County. <br /> <br />Hicks moved to table the <br />Public Works Committee. <br />(4-0) <br /> <br />matter pending recommendations and costs from the <br />Motion was seconded by Peck and carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Hicks noted that the Public Safety Committee asked about the status of the <br />pole in the area of the right-turn lane. Raddatz said it is a Group W <br />Cable pole which will be moved to the east edge of the turn lane. <br /> <br />Woodburn reported that the City Engineer is going forward on the surcharging <br />along Hamline Avenue. in preparation for the improvement of Hamline Avenue. <br /> <br />Purchase of PlaYRround and Park Maintenance Equipment <br />Council was referred to Buckley's memo of 6/21/85. Sather asked if the <br />three backhoe diggers at $184.00 each were budgeted. McNiesh said they are <br />not listed items. <br /> <br />Hicks moved, seconded by Sather, that Council authorize the purchase of <br />playground equipment and park maintenance equipment as outlined in Buckley's <br />memo. Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />Approval of Summer PlaYRround Assistants and Summer ProRram Leaders <br />Hicks moved, seconded by Peck, that Council approve the hiring of Summer <br />Personnel as outlined in Buckley's memo of 6/20/85 at the rates indicated. <br />Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />Diseased Trees on VillaRe Property <br />Council was referred to Buckley's memo of 6i21/85. In discussion, the amount <br />budgeted for diseased tree removal was queried. McNiesh reported $500 was <br />budgeted in 1985 for tree removal on public property. It was noted that <br />the City requires removal of diseased trees from private property; therefore <br />has no alternative but to remove them from City property. <br /> <br />Hicks moved to authorize the tree and stump removal from Village-owned <br />properties, in the amount of $1,574.00. Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />REPORT OF VILLAGE TREASURER DONALD LAMB <br /> <br />Council was referred to letter from Norwest Bank explaining options <br />available to the City relative to cremation or return of coupons and bonds. <br />Lamb recommended the cremation method for Arden Hills' existing paid <br />issues. <br /> <br />Woodburn moved, seconded by Sather, that Council authorize the cremation <br />method of disposal for paid coupons and bonds. Motion carried unanimously. <br />(4-0) <br /> <br />REPORT OF PUBLIC WORKS SUPERVISOR ROBERT RADDATZ <br /> <br />Thorn Drive Storm Sewer Cost Estimates <br />Raddatz referred Council to pictures taken of the Thom Drive Storm Sewer <br />problem, and described the location of a 12" storm sewer on Thom Drive, <br />about a block east of Cleveland, which runs in a northeast direction from <br />
