It was noted <br />that currently all lines are busy relatively infrequently. <br /> <br />Sather moved. seconded by Hicks, to accept the Public Works Committee's recom- <br />mendation to install the fourth line with rotary feature effective April 1st. <br />Motion did not carry. (Sather voting in favor of the motion; Peck, Hansen. <br />Hicks. Woodburn voting in opposition.) (1 - 4) <br /> <br />ReQuest for VillaRe Participation in Costs to Control Erosion, Siems Court <br />at Service Drive <br />Council was referred to Raddatz's memo of 3/22/85 re Ken Abeln property. 3535 <br />Siems Court. <br /> <br />Raddatz explained that the service drive serves three properties and is <br />approximately 400 feet in length; noted that Mr. Abeln proposes to upgrade <br />the bank between the drive and the road which he anticipates will cost <br />$7.000 - $8,000 (terracing, timbers. rocks) and would like the City to parti- <br />cipate in the cost if he does the work. Raddatz reported that some of the <br />street surface is cracking. did not have locations of exact street right-of- <br />way. Raddatz noted that the Abeln property frontage is about 180 feet on <br />the service drive. <br /> <br />In discussion. concern was expressed re life expectancy of the proposed upgrad- <br />ing, efforts needed in terms of design. extent of upgrade needed for the other <br />properties on the service drive. <br /> <br />Raddatz described the design as tying tim~ers into the bank with a screw <br />'(simi1ar to mobile home tie-downs). <br /> <br />Hansen moved, seconded by Hicks. that Council pay $1,000 for the upgrading <br />project to prevent erosion of the road. <br /> <br />After discussion, Hansen moved to table the motion <br />pending identification of the street right-of-way. <br />Peck and carried unanimously. (5 - 0) <br /> <br />until the April 8th meeting <br />Motion was seconded by <br /> <br />ReQuest for Resolution re Persecution of Baha'i Minority in Iran - Nadila <br />Birkland <br />Council was referred to letter from Nadj1a Birkland and sample resolution <br />attached thereto. <br /> <br />Three Baha'i representatives were present at the meeting; requested adoption <br />of the Resolution by Arden Hills; reported that Rosevil1e had passed a similar <br />resolution; explained that in so doing. it will let Congress know there is <br />grass roots support; lives may be saved if there is enough community support <br />and pressure is put on Iran; it is possible they will stop the persecution. <br />It was explained they are not asking for support of the Baha'i faith; are <br />asking for support of the Baha'is and other persecuted minorities. <br /> <br />After discussion. Hicks moved, seconded by Sather. that Council adopt <br />Resolution No. 85-16. as amended. Motion carried unanimously. (5 - 0) <br /> <br />Authorization for Mayor to Execute Restated FlowaRe Easement - Jessup Property <br />Council was referred to Attorney Lynden's letter (3/19/85) re Case No. 84-8 <br />Dwight Jessup - Restated Flowage Easement. <br /> <br />Hansen moved, seconded by Sather, that Council approve the Restated Flowage <br />Easement and authorize execution thereof by the City. Motion carried <br />unanimously. (5 - 0 ) <br /> <br />(Clerk to check date of expiration of variances prior to issuance of building <br />.permit for house). <br />
