.

Minutes of Regular Council Meeting
Monday, September 24, 1984
Page Four .

Proclamation - League of Women Voters Month
Woodburn read A Proclamation proclaiming the month of October to
be League of Women Voters of Arden Hills Month, and expressed
Council's sincere appreciation for the assistance and cooperation
of the League of Women Voters of Arden Hi11s/Shoreview.

Rauenhorst moved approval of the Proclamation. Motion was
seconded by Mulcahy and carried unanimously. "No Trucks" sign
3. Better directions be provided to Bethel College.

In discussion, the cost of a light was estimated at $100/
year for electricity; the reason for a light was queried,
noting that street lights are permitted by Resolution when
certain safety criteria are met. Hicks said he could sup-
port a light at this location because the intersection is
unusual. Hicks moved, seconded by Rauenhorst, that Council
authorize the installation of a street light at County Road
E and Hamline Avenue, and the posting of a "No Trucks" sign
beneath the "Dead End" sign, and request Bethel College to
provide better maps and review their signage directing
traffic to the Bethel campus.

In further discussion, Mulcahy said he would prefer fitting
this street light into an over-all City street light plan;
is not persuaded that this light may not upset an ultimate
street light plan.

McNiesh said we'd probably have to use one of the County
Road E City-owned light standards; is not sure we have one
on hand. Concern was expressed relative to impact of a
light on the nearby homes.

Rauenhorst moved to table the motion pending a poll of the
affected residents, relative to the proposed light, and pending
definite cost figures for the light and standard. Motion
carried unanimously.

Tem orar Ri ht-turn Lane
Deferred unti Engineer s
consideration.

Council

Motion of Approval
Rauenhorst moved, seconded by Hicks, that Council approve the
following:

Resolution No. 84-36, RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF LOCATING
REGIONAL SPEEDSKATING FACILITY IN THE CITY OF ROSEVILlE.

.

1.

2.
