(5-0) <br /> <br />Public Works CommIttee Recommendations - MeetIng of Au~ust 15th <br /> <br />Sale of Truck/Plow - deferred at request of Johansen, pending <br />h Is memo report. <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor Vacancy <br />McNlesh suggested the use of a box number In advertisement <br />In the newspaper, to which resumes be sent. Councl I con- <br />curred that the vacancy be fi lied by a "working supervisor"; <br />a salary range be Included In the advertisement; closing <br />date for applications be October 15th; appointment be made <br />by November 1st for December 1st employment date. <br /> <br />McNiesh to send salary Information to Council for Its con- <br />sideration, and to check with League of Cities re placement <br />of ad in the League Bulletin. <br /> <br />Status Report - Cable TV, William Bauer <br />Bauer reported that the Commission listened to 3i-4 hours of <br />public comment at the meeting In Rosevllle on August 2nd re <br />underground construction of Cable TV: reported that Group W's <br />engineer advised that the construction be continued as It Is now <br />being done, with the boxes above ground; reported that one <br />Installation that was placed entirely underground is now being <br />re-bullt: noted that, as proposed, system should last 10 years - <br />system lasted only 2 years In Apple Val ley where boxes were <br />placed underground. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Bauer reported that the Commission agreed that: <br /> <br />- Group W must bury pedestals In areas where all other exist- <br />Ing utilities are underground. <br /> <br />- Group W Is required to bury tap pedestals at the request <br />of homeowners; the resident cost not to exceed $125.00. <br /> <br />Bauer said he does not know If Group W wi I I resist. <br /> <br />Bill Herrmeyer, 1692 Chatham Avenue, listed complaints In the Chatham <br />area re Cable Installation and restoration: <br /> <br />- rocks were not raked out of lawns. <br />- sod cutter chopped up sod between trench and curb and left It. <br />- no dirt was replaced. <br />- hydraulic 011 spots were left on concrete driveways. <br />- mailboxes were removed, and replaced In reverse order. <br />- tap boxes were not located next to phone boxes in many <br />Instances, but placed on the opposite side of the yard. <br />- streets are a mess and have not been cleaned up. <br />- vacant lot was used as a parking lot for equipment and <br />vehicles, without permission. <br />
