MEMORANDUM <br />I DATE: March 12, 1996 <br />I TO: Brian Fritsinger, City Administrator <br /> FROM: Dwayne Stafford, Public Works Superintendent <br />I I <br /> SUBJECT: Worksession Public Works Roundtable Items <br />I MN DOT Highway Improvement <br /> The City of Arden Hills Public Works Superintendent has been informed by MN DOT of <br />I Highway Improvements scheduled this coming summer in Arden Hills. Specifically, Highway <br /> 51 will be overlayed from Interstate 694 South to the County Road E area. Highway 10 from <br /> 694 Northwest to Interstate 35W will be milled and overlayed. Neither of these segments will be <br />I closed, however traffic would be restricted to single lanes during construction. <br /> EVP (Emergency Vehicle Preemption) <br />I In every meeting with the Ramsey County Public Works Department concerning reconstruction <br /> or upgrading county roads it has been advised by the County that a EVP system be installed with <br /> any new traffic signals. It has been the County's policy not to pay for the EVP system and to <br />.- assess the Cities for costs. Mr. Stafford would like Council to provide direction on how to <br /> respond to the County's advise on installing EVP and what funding would be used. <br />I Old 10 Watermain <br /> Mr. Stafford has prepared a report asking that the segment of 6 inch waterline between County <br />I Road F and Valentine be replaced due to an unusual amount ofrepairs on this segment. Since <br /> that report Mr. Stafford has made another report asking Council to consider finishing the <br /> unfinished segment ofwatermain between Wedgewood Circle and Highway 96. In the cost <br />I estimate Mr. Stafford has not included engineering fees or contractor profit. If Council approves <br /> construction of one or both segments staff will order plans and specifications be drawn. <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />~. <br />I <br />I <br /> ----- -- <br />
