PUBLIC <br />WORKS MAINT. <br />EMPLOYEE <br />Council was referred to a memorandum from Public Works <br />Supervisor Raddatz dated 6-1-89, relative to appointment <br />of James Perron as a Public Works Maintenance employee. <br />• <br />r 1 <br />U <br />Raddatz explained that Perron has previous municipal experience and has heen <br />employed by the cities of Shoreview and New Brighton as a public works/parks <br />employee. The Public Works Supervisor recommended hiring Perron at a starting <br />salary of $10.54 per hour, which is 80% of the top salary for the position, based <br />on the applicants previous municipal experience; he outlined the salary increases <br />for the position after successful completion of the six month probationary period <br />and upon completion of one year employment with the City. <br />Hansen moved, seconded by Malone, that Council appoint <br />James Perron to fill the Public Works Maintenance Worker position, at a starting <br />salary of $10.54 per hour, as outlined in Raddatz's memorandum of 6-1-89. Motion <br />carried unanimously. (5-0) <br />EMPLOYEE HEALTH Council was referred to a memorandum from Berger dated <br />INS.INCREASE 6-2-89, recommending a$10.00 per month health insurance <br />contribution increase for non-union city employees. <br />Serger explained the 1989 Public Works labor contract was approved by Council <br />with an increase in the City's contribution for employee health insurance; past <br />practice has been that insurance coverage granted to union employees is also <br />awarded to non-union employees. <br />Mahowald moved, seconded by Hansen, that Council grant a <br />$10.00 per month health insurance premium increase for non-union employees <br />retroactive to January 1, 1989. Motion carried unanimously. (5-0) <br />Mahowald asked what company currently provides health insurance for the city. <br />Berger advised the League of Minnesota Cities Benefit Plan. <br />Council briefly discussed surveying other employee health insurance options. <br />REQ. TEMPORARY Council was referred to a memorandum from Berger dated <br />PERMIT; ANTENNA, 6-1-89, relative to a request from H.B. Fuller Company <br />H,B. FULLER, 1200 for a temporary permit to install a satellite dish <br />W. COUNTY ROAD E antenna at 1200 W. County Road E. <br />The Clerk Administrator explained a Public Hearing prior to installation of the <br />antenna is required by City Code; he noted the application and fees were received <br />on this date and the hearing will be scheduled for the Suly Planning meeting. <br />Malone moved, seconded by Growe, that Council grant a <br />Temporary Permit to H.B. Fuller for installation of a 24" satellite dish at 1200 <br />West County Road E, Arden Hills, such permit to expire at 12:01 a.m. the Tuesday <br />following the first Regular Council meeting in Suly 1989. Motion carried <br />unanimously. (5-0) <br />MCGUIRE'S INN; Councilmember Hansen questioned if McGuire�s has complied <br />SCREENING OF with the screening of the satellite antennae located in <br />ANTENNAE their parking lot; plantings were to be placed on the <br />east end of the property along Lexington Avenue. <br />Councilmember Growe advised she had seen earth moving equipment in the area. <br />Staff was directed to review the matter and report to Council. <br />
