-
Recvc1inl!
1. Christmas Tree Recycling. The City of Arden Hills recycled 3,080 Christmas trees in -
the event this year. These 3,080 trees represent approximately 47 tons of plant material
which was recycled into mulch.
2. SCORE Grant. The City recently received the first half of its SCORE grant for 1997
($9,763.50).
3. Cost of Rccyc1ing. The City revised its contract with E-Z Recycling for 1996 and 1997.
The contract revision provided the City a flat rate for recycling pick-up rather than a cost
determined by the tonnage picked up. The revised contract saved the City $1,895.85 in
1996 (Exhibit B).
Miscellaneous
1. I-35W Corridor Coalition. The Community Development Director's recently met with
representatives ofMnDOT to discuss the potential of conducting a corridor study of
Interstate 35W through the Corridor. MnDOT is supportive of such a study, including
financial participation. The Community Development Director's are going to meet in
early March with the City and County Engineers to discuss goals and strategies for such a
study. Given, that MnDOT does not currently plan to invest any major dollars in the
corridor until after the year 20 I 0 and the opportunities for development and/or
redevelopment which exist in the Corridor, the Staff believes that these are valuable -
discussions.
-
-
-
.
.
.
I
-.
I
