I
stays there until it eventually drains into a sanitary sewer manhole cover. Engineer Stonehouse I
and I have examined possible solutions. It appears that the water used to drain into Dawn Circle
until the homes were built. The best solution seems to be to install a drain pipe along or under --
the trail from the area that holds water to the storm sewer in the street at the comer of Briarknoll
Drive and Norma Avenue. Greg, Dwayne, and I will be updating the Council during budget
discussions.
1997 Trail Sealcoatillll Proiects I
Due to the increased cost of the slurry seal coat over the pea rock, we will only be able to seal I
coat the area around the perimeter of Cummings Park ($5140) and the Valentine Hills area
($693). The Floral Park perimeter trail will have to be dropped until next year. The 1997 park
maintenance budget included $7,400. To do all of the proposed trail areas, the cost would be I
$11,103.
Trail Construction I
The contract with Thor Construction calls for all of the trail construction and clean up to be
completed by May IS. Engineer Stonehouse and I have agreed on a punch list of items that need
to be completed before the remainder of the money is paid to the contractor. I
DNR Trail Grant
I have completed the trail grant application for County Road F between Hamline Avenue and I
Lexington Avenue. The review and ranking period will be from May I to August 31,1997.
Grants will be awarded in the fall.
Tony Schmidt Park ..
Greg Mack has confirmed that Ramsey County will sell bonds in June of 1997 and $300,000 will I
be used for planning purposes for the redevelopment of Tony Schmidt Park. Mr. Mack also
indicated that he intends to request $580,000 for 1998 to complete the redevelopment of the park
north of Lake Johanna Boulevard. The beach area would potentially be a 1999 project. I will I
keep the Council informed as I learn more about the process and plan for redevelopment.
I
I
I
I
I
--
I
