The applicant has modified their requested signage so that they are <br /> providing for "canned signs" on the south and east elevation ofthe bay each of <br /> which do not exceed 45 square feet in area (Exhibit B). The modification is 1 <br /> consistent with the requirements of conditions I and 2 of the Planning <br /> Commission recommendation. <br /> 2. Parking. The applicant modified the site plan so that only two parking spaces I <br /> will be eliminated in front of the bay instead of the four that was originally <br /> anticipated to be lost (Exhibit C). PUD amendment I <br />A. Request <br /> The petitioner (NHLC) is requesting approval of an amendment to their previously I <br /> approved Planned Unit Development (Planning Case 84-21) to allow for a 93,816 square <br /> foot Family Life Center addition (Exhibit D). <br />B. Back!!round .. <br /> The concept Planned Unit Development (PUD) for the church was submitted in July of <br /> 1984 and approved by the City in August of 1984 in Planning Case 84-21. The concept . <br /> PUD set out a four stage development program. The City reviewed and approved the <br /> Phase I construction (2,000 seat sanctuary and 700 parking spaces) in May of 1985. The <br /> PUD document sets out the parameters for the development of the property. The PUD I <br /> allows for 91,500 square feet of support facilities and 1,667 parking spaces in Phases one <br /> and two. The applicant is proposing a 93,816 square foot Community Life Center and a <br /> total of 876 parking spaces. The proposed footprint of the addition is more compact on I <br /> the site, although it does encroach closer onto Highway 10, than does the original plan. <br />e. Planning Commission Recommendation I <br /> The Planning Commission on April 2, 1997 recommended approval of the Planned Unit <br /> Development amendment to construct a 93,816 square foot Community Life Center to the . <br /> North Heights Lutheran Church, in Planning Case 97-05, subject to the following <br /> conditions: <br /> 1. Compliance with PUD Permit No. 84-21; I <br /> 2. Provision of a sidewalk at least 48 inches in width on the west and south sides of <br /> the addition; I <br /> 3. Compliance with the determination by the Fire Chief of the Lake Johanna <br /> Volunteer Fire Department on the need for a fire apparatus access road on the .. <br /> west and south sides of the addition; <br /> I <br />
