MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: August 11, 1997 <br /> I TO: Mayor and City Council <br /> Kevin Ringwald, Community Development Director ~ <br /> FROM: <br /> I <br /> SUBJECT: Gateway Busincss District - Consultant Request <br /> I Request <br /> The Staff is requesting authorization to hire a consultant(s) to assist with acquisition and <br /> I relocation issues, including appraisals, within the Oateway Business District (GBD). <br /> Backl!round <br /> I As the development of the OBD progresses, the City will become involved with acquisition of <br /> real property and possibly relocation issues as well. The Staff does not have the specific <br /> expertise necessary to effectuate these acquisitions. Therefore, the Staff is requesting that it be <br /> I provided the authorization to acquire outside expertise in the areas of acquisition and relocation. <br /> Ie The Staff has previously worked with consultants in this area of expertise. The City has also <br /> received the names of several consultants from adjacent cities who are recommended. Those <br /> firms are: Dan Wilson, Inc.; Kirk Schnitzker, Inc.; Evergreen Land Service; and Conwirth. <br /> I Budl!et Impact <br /> The City Council on April 14, 1997 adopted Resolution 97-19 which allows for activities, such <br /> I as those being currently requested, to be paid for out of bond proceeds. Therefore, it anticipated <br /> that the revenues which will support this activity will be provided by the Tax Increment <br /> Financing generated by the development within the OBD. <br /> I Recommendation <br /> The Staff recommends that the City Administrator be authorized to hire a consultant(s) to assist <br /> I with acquisition and relocation issues, including appraisals, within the OBD. <br /> . <br /> I <br /> I <br /> .. <br /> I <br />
