WHEREAS, on June 20, 1997 the City of Arden Hills provided written correspondence to Larry <br /> Holmberg, Ramsey County Parks Supervisor of Planning and Development, identifying its <br /> concerns regarding the County's proposal location of the regional trail segment along Highway <br /> 96; and <br /> WHEREAS, on July 30, 1997 the Arden Hills Highway 96 Task Force met with Jim Tolaas and <br /> Larry Holmberg to again discuss possible trail route alternatives; and <br /> WHEREAS, at the July 30, 1997 meeting Mr. Tolaas and Mr. Holmberg responded on the <br /> County's behalf with the following points: <br /> . The County is unwilling to consider alternative regional trail routes which the City would <br /> consider to provide a safer environment for pedestrian users. <br /> . The County believes that their proposed trail route is a safe route for pedestrians. <br /> . The trail route will not be maintained for use during the winter. <br /> . The Arden Hills portion of the Highway 96 project has been split into three (3) segments <br /> as a result of funding shortages. <br /> . The first segment of the Arden Hills portion of the Highway 96 project has been delayed <br /> to begin in 1999 and ending sometime in the new century. <br /> . The County has had no follow up conversations regarding the acquisition and relocation <br /> of homes with the residents of Arden Manor Mobile Home Park; and <br /> -_ WHEREAS, on August II, 1997 the Arden Hills City Council met to discuss the status of the <br /> project and the response from Ramsey County Staff to the design alternatives received from the <br /> - City of Arden Hills. <br /> - NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Arden Hills, <br /> I Minnesota that it will oppose the Highway 96 reconstruction project unless further positive <br /> consideration of the community's concerns is given by Ramsey County officials. <br /> I PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> THIS 11TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1997. <br /> I <br /> .
