Finance <br /> 1 1. 1998 Bud~et <br /> Staff has been working on the Preliminary 1998 Budget and has made an <br /> I initial presentation to the City Council at the August 18, 1997 <br /> Worksession. The Preliminary Budget has taken into consideration the <br /> levy limits placed on the City by the State of Minnesota. Once additional <br /> 1 refinements are made as a result of City Council input, a Preliminary Levy <br /> may be presented for formal action at the September 8, 1997 regular City <br /> Council meeting. <br /> 1 g, Parks and Recreation <br /> I 1. Proposed Hwv, 96 Trail Location/Relocation <br /> Staff has met with representatives of Ramsey County to discuss both the <br /> . Highway 96 trail location and other design issues related to the <br /> reconstruction of Highway 96. A variety ofresolutions and reports have <br /> been prepared addressing community concerns on the design of the <br /> Ie project. Staff has also attempted to coordinate meetings with <br /> Commissioners Bennett and Wiessner on this topic. <br /> 1 h. Personnel <br /> 1. Receptionist Vacancy <br /> I Staff evaluated 82 applications for the Receptionist position, and <br /> conducted interviews with five finalists. An offer was made and accepted <br /> by Ms. Janet Owens. Ms. Owens will start with the City beginning on <br /> I September 2, 1997. Carolyne Kapitan, our current Receptionist, has <br /> agreed to help train our new employee for several days. <br /> I 2. Performance Evaluations <br /> Staff completed annual performance evaluations on four employees during <br /> 1 the past month. <br /> i. Public Works/Safety <br /> I 1. Meetin~ with Mounds View School Staff/Students <br /> I attended an initial meeting with Superintendent Witthuhn, Principal <br /> 1 Brungardt, and student representative, Erin McGilvery, to discuss <br /> community concerns about the actions of students at Mounds View High <br /> t' School. The meeting was very positive with a follow-up meeting planned <br /> for October. <br /> . <br />
