.. -" I issues. I have had a difficult time working with the Welsh representatives to resolve the park I dedication issue. They have not provided me with information on a timely basis. If this item . cannot be resolved in time to present it to the Council at the September 30 meeting, it will appear e. on the October 13 meeting. Valentine Park Vandalism I During the summer, we had repeated vandalism to Valentine Park on County Road F. There was a group of kids who would hang out there and destroy picnic tables, paint on the building, and continually dump garbage throughout the park area. I have contacted the Ramsey County Sheriff . to patrol this area more closely and to talk to these kids. Our staff have repeatedly spoken to the kids about the damage they are doing. We have obviously been unsuccessful. Now that school has begun, they are at the park after dark dumping garbage etc. We have tried removing the trash . receptacles and picnic tables in an attempt to get them to go elsewhere. This has alsa not been successful. I have notified concerned neighborhood residents that they should call the Sheriff when they see the damage occurring rather than calling us the next day. I will continue to work I with the Sheriffs department. Athletic Facility Needs Analysis I I have been working with the Cities of Shoreview, New Brighton, and Mounds View, and the Mounds View School District on an athletic facility needs analysis, The area athletic associations have also been asked to participate. The goal of the study is to identify the adequacy I or inadequacy of the athletic facilities in our area. The study is in its final stages. The intent is to report the findings at the next Mayor and Managers meeting. e. Program Report Healthy Youth Coalition . Over the past two (2) years, this coalition has met to learn about asset building in youth as a way to strengthen communities. The coalition consists of community leaders from Arden Hills, Mounds View, New Brighton, North Oaks, Roseville, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights, Mounds I View School District, and other community agencies. A community summit on Healthy Youth will be held on Tuesday, September 30,7:00 p.m. at the New Brighton Family Service Center. This will be the kickoff to a major asset building campaign for all the communities involved. I M.A.R.S. (Metro Area Recreators) This group consists of program supervisors from ten neighboring Cities (Arden Hills, Roseville, . Vadnais Heights, Shoreview, Mounds View, New Brighton, Columbia Heights, Fridley, Blaine, and Spring Lake Park). This group is working together to develop, promote, and implement teen programs and trips, as well as other special events, family programs, and community based I activities. One of the major goals of this group is to be able to offer programs that normally one city would not be able to run by themselves. I Fall Soccer We have over 200 kids in our Fall Soccer Program, For the first time in a few years, we have I two (2) teams at the 7th and 8th grade level. -. . -- --- ----
