The first commercial/industrial permit of October (# 5866) <br /> involved a $52,000 interior remodel at the Holiday Inn at 1201 County Road E. The .. <br /> second commercial/industrial permit (# 5871) involved a $27,000 office remodel for <br /> Insurance Testing at 3900 Northwoods Drive. The third commercial/industrial permit <br /> (#5873) involved a $2,450 office remodel at 3585 Lexington Avenue. Lastly, the fourth I <br /> commercial/industrial permit (#5880) involved a $112,000 silo addition at Friskies Pet <br /> Foods at 4251 Fernwood Avenue. <br /> In October, the City issued one new residential (single family) construction permit which I <br /> had a value of $152,624. In October, the City issued 15 residential remodeling permits <br /> which ranged in value from $81.06 to $150,000 and had a total value of $291 ,248.06 and I <br /> had an average value of$19,416.54. Lastly, in October, the City issued a mass driveway <br /> reconstruction permit (#5870) for the Pemtom townhouses which had a total value of <br /> $81,093. I <br /> 2. Sign Permits. In October, the City issued no sign permits. <br /> Economic Deve]opment I <br /> 1. Gateway Business District. The Staff and the developer continue to whittle away at the <br /> list of items which require resolution. The City Attorney (Jerry Filla) has made some I <br /> progress with the attorneys for Morris Communications and would hopefully have <br /> positive news by the City Council meeting. The Development Attorney (Bob Deike) is - <br /> redrafting the purchase agreement and the development agreement consistent with the <br /> actions taken by the City Council in recent meetings. --- <br /> 2. Resistance Technology Incorporated. The 20th Anniversary ofRTI will be occurring .. <br /> on Wednesday, October 29, 1997 at 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at their facility at 1260 Red <br /> Fox Road (Exhibit A). The Staff and representatives of the Business Relations I <br /> Committee are also planning on attending. <br /> 3. Adobc Systems Incorporated. The third floor of the Northwood Office building at 3900 I <br /> Northwoods Drive has been occupied by the research and development team (over 100 <br /> employees) of Adobe Systems Incorporated. Adobe is a computer software manufacturer <br /> who specializes in printing technologies, multimedia, graphics and layouts, and Internet I <br /> publishing (Exhibit B). Adobe has offices in Georgia, Australia, Massachusetts, Canada, <br /> IlIinois, Texas, California, Korea, Minnesota, New York, Washington, and Signapore. I <br /> Code Enforcement <br /> 1. Miscellaneous off-premise signs. The Staff has been picking up more off-premise signs I <br /> around the City. The Staff contacts each of these vendors and informs them that their <br /> sign is illegal and that if we have to go out and pick up any additional signs that we will <br /> issue them a citation. In general this approach works, however, as new vendors enter this I <br /> market the learning process starts over again. <br /> -- <br /> I <br />
