Newsletter Committee The Newsletter Committee will be meeting next week to begin work on I the November edition of the Arden Hills Notes. This witl be Sharon Hanzalik's first meeting/edition as editor (publisher). I e. Community Development I 1. Gatewav Business District (GBD) This activity has once again been the focus of most of staffs attention during the past month. Numerous meetings with attorneys, Welsh, I Naegele, engineers and the railroad have taken place. The City approved the Purchasc Agrcement with Nacgele and a numbcr of changes to the Development Agreement. The next item of discussion is the issuance of I bonds to finance the public improvements. d. Personnel I 1. Management Traininlj: The Department Heads have begun a program which includes a series of .- management training skills. These half day sessions will be held over the next six months, and if completed, will provide certification to the I participants. 2. Union Negotiations I Staff has had several meetings with representatives of1.0.U.E. Local No. 49. It appears we are nearing a recommendation for settlement. Related to this, the City witl for the first time, be required to report the specifics of I the settlement to the State of Minnesota. 3. Personnel Policv I The City has received the second draft of the personnel policy. I had hoped to have this reviewed at the October 20 Council Worksession, but will now aim for the November 17 Worksession. I e. Public Works/Safety I 1. Meeting with Mounds View High School Staff and Students Staff participated in several meetings with Mounds View High School ~ staff and students, and provided the information necessary for the school to arrange the October 8, 1997 neighborhood meeting. I
