The minutes of the November 5,1997 Planning Commission meeting are being <br /> provided under separate cover. <br /> Case #97-23. Site Plan Amendment - wall si~na!!e. MSL. 4300 Round Lake Road <br /> A. Request. Manufacturer's Service Limited (MSL) is requesting approval modification of the <br /> - Site Plan approval which was granted in Planning Case 96-12 to facilitate the relocation of <br /> a wall sign to a new location (Exhibit A). <br /> B. Background. The Planning Commission recommended approval of Planning Case 96-12 <br /> =. at their September 4, 1996 meeting. The City Council approved Planning Case 96-12 at their <br /> September 30, 1996 meeting. <br /> - <br /> - The special requirements of the Gateway Business District (GBD) provide for approval of <br /> the location, type, size and design of signs within the GBD (Zoning Ordinance, Section V, <br /> I K, 5, g, (I)). The original signage provided for one sign band (wall sign) to either side of the <br /> buildings five points of entrance for a total often wall signs (Exhibit A, page 2 of2). The <br /> original signage planned for occupancy of the building by a multiple tenants. The building <br /> I is solely occupied by MSL. MSL currently has no wall signs on their building. Therefore, <br /> the applicant has not utilized any of the available signage that was originally provided for. <br /> The applicants request is to locate a wall sign in the upper left hand comer of the building's <br /> I west wall which would provide exposure to Interstate 35W. <br /> C. Planning Commission Recommendation. The Planning Commission on November 5, <br /> I 1997 recommended, in Planning Case 97-23, approval of the proposed modification to the <br /> sign location (wall sign), based on that the proposed modification does not negatively affect <br /> I the aesthetics of the buildings and that the other ten wall signs location will not be utilized, <br /> subject to the size of the wall sign on the west face does not exceed the amount allowed by <br /> the sign ordinance (100 square feet). <br /> I <br /> if <br /> I <br />
