<br />I SECTION 19-22 RESIGNATION. <br /> <br />I An employee leaving the municipal service in good standing <br />shall give fourteen (14) calendar days advance written notice <br />,. of resignation to the employee's immediate supervisor. <br />The employee shall be compensated for accumulated unused <br />vacation leave provided that the employee has a minimum of <br />one (1) complete year of continuous service. Failure to give <br />I the required advance notice may be cause for denying future <br />employment in the municipal service. <br /> <br />Unauthorized absences from work for a period of three (3) <br />I consecutive work days shall be considered resignation without <br />proper notice, unless extenuating circumstances .preclude the <br />employee from notifying their supervisor. <br /> <br />I SECTION 19-23 RETIREMENT. <br /> <br />I The retirement of City employees shall be in accordance with <br />Federal and state statutes. <br /> <br />SECTION 19-24 GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE. <br /> <br />I It is the policy of the City to prevent the occurrence of <br />grievances insofar as practicable and to provide an orderly, <br />I efficient and timely procedure for dealing with those which <br />do occur. A grievance is defined as a dispute or <br />disagreement regarding the interpretation or application of <br />~ this Chapter. <br /> <br />.... The procedure established herein shall be followed by an <br />employee in presenting a grievance to the city. Failure to <br />I follow the steps within the stated time limits may result in <br />a denial of the grievance on procedural grounds. <br /> <br />I Step 1. An employee claiming a violation concerning the <br />interpretation or application of this chapter may, <br />within ten (10) work days after such alleged <br />I violation has occurred, present the written <br />grievance to the employee's immediate supervisor or <br />department head. The immediate supervisor shall <br />I provide a written response to the grievance within <br />ten (10) work days of presentation of the grievance <br />by the employee. <br /> <br />I step 2. If the grievance is not resolved in step 1, the <br />employee may appeal the grievance in writing to the <br />Clerk Administrator or supervisor within ten (10) <br />I work days of receipt of the department head's <br />written response in step 1. Any grievance not <br />appealed in writing to step 2 by the employee <br />I within ten (10) work days shall be considered <br />resolved. <br />-15- <br /> <br />.. <br />I <br />
