<br /> I <br /> I DEFINITIONS <br /> f' <br /> A. Anniversary Date. Shall mean the month and day of initial hiring or <br /> promotion of an employee. <br /> I B. Appointing Authority Means the City Administrator or other City <br /> officer to whom the City Council has delegated <br /> I authority to appoint personnel. <br /> C. Benefits. Benefits shall mean indirect compensation and <br /> I any privileges granted to employees, including: <br /> vacation leave, sick leave, holiday leave, funeral <br /> leave, military leave, group insurance and any <br /> I other benefits approved by the Council. <br /> D. Certified Bargaining Unit A group of employees who have been <br /> I determined by the State to have a common <br /> interest in the collective bargaining process and <br /> whose common interest has been determined <br /> I as appropriate by the State. <br /> E. Class. Shall mean a position or group of positions <br /> Ie similar in respect to their duties and <br /> responsibilities so that the same title can <br /> reasonably be used for the position, and the <br /> I same salary schedule may be applied to the <br /> position. <br /> I F. Compensatory Time Means time off from work at the employee's <br /> normal straight time rate of pay. For regular <br /> employees not exempt from the provisions of <br /> I the Fair Labor Standards Act, compensatory <br /> time shall be computed at one and one-half <br /> times the number of overtime hours worked. <br /> I G. Demotion. Shall mean the placement of an employee in a <br /> position having a lower pay and/or iess <br /> I responsibility than the position previously held. <br /> This could involve a reduction in salary due to <br /> I incompetency, inefficiency or misconduct. <br /> H.
