Basic Requirements - Meets Requirement Caliper <br /> Inches <br /> According to the City's landscape plan design requirements, General <br /> 195.1 caliper inches of trees is required for a development Landscaping <br /> of this size. The minimum total caliper inches required for Requirement 195.1 <br /> trees can be caleulated by dividing the gross square footage NB Special <br /> (62,432 square feet) by 320. Since this is a Neighborhood Requirement 80.47 <br /> Business (NB) Zone, the special requirements call for Total 275.57 <br /> additional landscaping of three caliper inches per 40 feet of publie street frontage (3 x 26.82 <br /> [1072.90/40)), which increases the required caliper inches of trees by 80.47 caliper inches. <br /> Therefore, the total required caliper inches of trees per these minimum landscaping <br /> requirements is 27557 caliper inches. <br /> The applicant has proposed 256.5 caliper inches of new deciduous and ornamental trees. The <br /> applicant is also proposing 38 new coniferous trees, which is equivalent to 95 caliper inches <br /> according to the landscaping plan requirements (tree height/2.4 = caliper inches). The result <br /> is 351.5 caliper inches of new trees. <br /> The applicant also proposes to preserve ten existing trees that would equal 124 additional <br /> caliper inches. The preserved trees are fairly substantial and include: two 11 inch diameter <br /> Pines, one 10 inch diameter Pine, one 14 inch diameter Basswood, one 16 inch diameter <br /> Basswood, one 18 inch diameter Ash, one 15 inch diameter Ash, an 18 Elm, a 6 inch Spruce, <br /> . and one 5 inch diameter Spruce. With the preserved trees, the total caliper inches in the <br /> landscape plan are 380.5, which exceeds the base requirement by approximately 105 caliper <br /> inches. <br /> B.
