In addition, the freestanding sign is backlit which is not
allowed, and the overall height of the sign is 15 feet whereas 12 feet is the maximum. The
height of the freestanding sign face itself is not supposed to exceed 6 feet; the proposed
freestanding sign face is 7.75 feet in height.
The use of a monument style freestanding sign rather than a pylon sign should be a
mitigating factor. The use of the backlit lighting for this sort of freestanding sign is common
for service station/convenience store uses and would seem to be the hest style of lighting for
this sign. Reductions to the base or the decorative edging of the freestanding monument sign
should allow the total freestanding sign height to meet the 12-foot requirement. Additionally
the canopy signs and wall signs should be reduced to meet the required 25 square feet each
street facing edge and 60 square feet respectively.
\\Earth\Planning\Planning Cases\2005\05-lJ Holiday Station Stores - Round Lake Road and 96 - SUP, PUD, Preliminary Plat (PENDING}\06- .
01 ~04 PC Report Holiday 05-13.doc
---------
